Sorry, cant really recommend anyone. A good Ford mechanic could help whilst a bad one wont understand whats going on.

The same goes for mechanic and tuner.

Basically what you are trying to do it make sure that it cruises around 15:1 to keep it emissions legal. If closed loop tables are set to aim at this but dont then look at things like O2 sensor and correct fuel pressure and whether it actually goes into closed loop.

I would look at a good tuner who could get it to run at 15.5 a/f ratio on closed loop and up the advance at cruise a bit. It would not be much work to do but they will try and make it out to be Rocket Science and charge.

HeadSex could probably offer some better advice on the programming side of things

I average a bit over 15L/100, that's not giving it a hard time either, only the occasional squirt... that's full time city driving in a 6 speed manual...

id say mid 14s is as good as you will get in a manual in city driving conditions..

I dont think 12.5L/100 in the city is achievable in a manual, maybe only in the 6speed auto in economy mode.

Rubbish! I drive my 6sp manual every single day in traffic and do over 600 "non highway" kilometers a week and my average fuel is just on 13L/100! I can get as low as 9L/100 on the highway. I don't drive like a grandpa either. I'm not shy in giving it a hit!

What kind of injectors are in it Dan? If they were setup for when you had the tune they would be dumping heaps of fuel in there now.

hahaha thanks guys,

I give it a boot every so often.

Injectors are still stock and the tune was done before I bought the car. It was an *shudder* APC tune. Reckon it has permanently scarred my car?

And thanks torana - That side of mods is a little out of my league.

I'll try the battery idea :3gears:

Cheers guys,

Dan

yeah but its not exactly comparing apples with apples...

its takes a bit more to get a stocker up and moving off the line, and probably drinks a bit more to get it up to speed, im sure you would have heaps more ignition timing down low to to get the thing up and moving a bit more efficently...not mention your other mods which also make it a more efficient setup

If your going to sell it, then let the next person worry about the economy... its not overly using a great deal more than others, you have to remember you have a 4spd auto compared to the others with 6speeds...

I took mine out the other night for a dip, and I used probably a 1/3 of a tank in 90kms! I gave it curry about 4 times otherwise it was at cruising speed... fuel is fuel dont worry about it so much...

I drive mainly city, it returns about 14L and I give it a bit. Stock ZF6 speed (edit - driven in SSS mode). I'm hanging for a tune to improve my economy, drop 2L I hear.

Also remember the fuel readout is not accurate, I've read you need to measure it yourself by filling her up to the first click and watching the K's until your next fillup :innocent:

Thanks guys,

I knew this was more of a problem than, "I flog my car everywhere - never driven it off boost since I've had it - Why's my fuel gauge go down so fast..."

:wackit:

Cheers guys, I'll try the battery thing and keep you all posted.
