First Track Day At Marulan

the mx5 days are well run, one of the better ones that's for sure. so you ran different tyres front / rear ?? an interesting choice and consensus is that this is less than ideal.

in my experience, outside front tyres take a hammering on XR6Ts and they get more wear than the rears due to weight shift on turn in. Did you have signs of sidewall wear on the front left after marulan?

edit: I am keen to get down to WP again soon, just waiting on some parts from Ford to finish the car.........hopefully I'll have it ready for 24 May but at the moment its unlikely......I wouldnt mind doing an MX5 Club day again if I have the car ready in June.

The front left did take a hammering at Marulan. Gary even suggested a diagonal pattern with your stickiest tyre at the front left and another at the back right which I might try at Wakefield. I have different tyres front and rear because I picked up (2 Only) new Azenis 215's for only $200ea. Finding 2 more RT215's was impossible. Was going to make a near matching set with the RT615's but were close to $400ea. Then found a March special with the Kumho KU36's and thought I'd give them a go. What tyres are you running? Under $300?

yeah thought so.

the problem is not enough roll resistance in the front. need uprated springs and sway bars.......Tein has the highest spring rates of the shelf, however even they are not enough to properly control the weight, but its much better than stock. stock is around 450lb/in and tein 670lb/in up front.......pedders seems to be a secret but somewhere between the two. I know of a car in QLD with custom Zeal coilovers and 1200lb/in front springs and says that's the number needed to stop the car falling over the outside front.

I am running KU36 all round 245/40 and 265/35

A few of us are heading to Wakefield on the 24th may for an open day, come along if you can... its tuesday so should be quiet-ish :)

I may be keen for this, but is that date a Sunday or Tuesday?

Still haven't got my MX5 day invite, so it could be a possibility and I would love to see what other people have done to their XR6T's to improve circuit handling/speed.

Still aiming to go down to Wakefield Sunday 21st of June with the MX5 club. Using up the last of my EBC red pads on the stock calipers and rotors. Will still be running stock springs and shocks too. I expect to piss off a lot of MX5 drivers by holding them up the entire back section and then passing them half way down the straight. :beerchug:

yeah I am keen for a timed day rather than just tear arsing around on an open day. Car in the shop today, a few bits and pieces to do so I am keen for something soon. I'll see whats on and post up.

Ok, I'll be heading down to WP on 25 July with Circuit Club....will be fun mixing it up with the Japs. Will get booked up next week.
