Hi,

I have loved reading this forum since I ordered my G6ET back in Oct until it arrived 2 weeks ago... it has kept me going!!

Im really loving the car and enjoy that it is a wolf in sheep's clothing. I went on a cruise with some workmates recently who drive heavily modified RX7s and STis - it was great to watch their faces each time they would power off and suddenly realise that the G6ET was not being left behind.

Im having a few little issues with the car though and was hoping that someone could provide some advice...

Firstly, (I think that this is a common one) the drivers seat just will not stay in the position I have set for it after the car is switched off and locked. I am adjusting the seat every single time I get it. Ive followed the manual to set the seating position but unless I use the memory buttons it seems to go back to a random seating position each time.

Secondly, the radio seems to be effected by static but only on 1 station (Nova) from time to time. I have found that if I switch off RDS the static isnt as much of a problem. It does seem to be a bit of a coincidence that Nova is the only station to do full RDS and when RDS is off the static doesnt occur as much. I wonder if this is a problem with my stereo or if the radio station is causing this problem? Has anyone else in Perth found this problem with Nova when using RDS?

OK, firstly

With your seat problem, there is a good chance your key has a memory position coded into it. You can reset this yourself, just look in the Owners manual and you will notice that both keys can be coded with individual seat positions. When you unlock the car the seat will go to the saved position.

In regards to the radio I would say it has something to do with the Radio Station rather than the stereo, however it may just be a good idea to ask the service guys about it when you go in for the first 3000K peace of mind inspection.

Just be grateful that (so far anyway) your fuel guage and ambient temperature guage work!

Re the RDS - I don't think I've ever even seen/heard it working the first place, though I'm in Melbourne so that probably doesn't help you. Just stick a CD in or connect an IPod! And of course enjoy the ride.

Congrats and welcome. Haven't noticed your problems though but my car does have the fuel gauge and ambient temperature gauge problems.

I had the 3k inspection last week and I thought I would share my experiences on my RDS issue...

After talking to the service guys I wasnt able to get any advice on how to resolve the issue, they completed a "module upgrade" which I assume is a software update for the ICC. After playing with the RDS settings I found that by un-checking the "Alternate frequencies" option this completely stopped the static/drop-out issue. I hope this helps someone else as this was a very frustrating issue.

On another front, I made the trek across the Nullarbor from Perth to Melbourne in the G6ET last week and was got the average fuel economy up as far as 9.1L/100 which was cruising most of the time at about 120 with regular overtaking. I had planned to make fuel stops every 350-400kms but was able to save plenty of time and was comfortably stopping at 500-550kms with more than 100kms in range left.

This car just keeps on impressing!!

Glad you are enjoying the car, mine has 10,300ks now and just keeps getting/feeling better.

As for the seat issue, yeah I had the same problem when I first got the car. I mucked around for ages setting each key for me and my wife. It does work and you have to follow the manual to the letter to set it correctly. It sounds like you have set a position that it keeps returning to, so you might need to start over from the beginning. Just follow the manual to the letter (I had my wife read out the instructions as I set it) and it will work. Mines been set since Aug 08 and has no problems.

As for the fuel sender issue, I think mine's okay and reports correct fuel levels.

I also have the out temp problem, as I think it's around + or - 4 degrees out. It's 4 degrees outside now and the temp guage is sitting on 0C, so it's got to be 3 or 4 out.

I'm going to list all the small issues I have when I get the 15,000ks service, these being:

1. Temp module showing incorrect temps.

2. ICC (very) occasionally will not show reverse camera view, screen just stays blank, but sonar beeps work okay. Also on (maybe) two occasions, while driving, the screen has just gone blank and a stop/re-start of the engine has fixed it. Hopefully there is a software update (and/or a software reflash) that will sort it.

3. I'm also going to purchase my own oil (Castrol Edge 10w-60) and have them use that instead of the standard Castrol Magnatec they used when I had the oil changed at the 3,000ks check.

According to the posts here and elsewhere, synth oil is better after the engine has reached 10,000 - 15,000 ks.

That's really it I suppose, I can't fault the car otherwise, either mechanically, nor rattles or squeaks, just smooth and quiet really. The engine has "loosened" now and you can feel that by the "seat of your pants" sort of thing :hiwelcome:) when using WOT.

The ICC could just be a loose plug, mine would restart occasionally and apparently it had logged a heap of "lost communication" errors. They re-seated it and now it flickers occasionally on rough roads, nothing significant but just enough to be distracting and piss you off.

Next step is a new loom or something? So maybe there was a batch of dodgy plugs? :banghead:

Have never had an issue with the memory seats/mirrors/other stuff...other than the day I picked it up I thought it was all f*cked as everything had changed the second time I got in the car. But then realised I was using the second key

Regarding the static - it is RDS related.

I never had a problem with mine until I changed some rds settings (alternate freq search and another setting I cant remember) which would give me crap reception for 5 sec every 5-10 minutes. I just changed to settings back and it was fixed - not evern going to ask ford to fix as it will just make me angry when it comes back the same.
