It has had a custom tune, typhoon intake and injectors thanks to XFT. However I ran a very frustrating 13.034 at the strip with a 2.3 60ft . I know the car would crack the 12's with say a better launch on a colder night, but I want consistent 12's. Say I have a budget of 3k fully installed and am chasing a figure of 300rwkw.What mods do ya'll recommend to get me there?P.s. This post is no way an insult to XFT. Their work was fantastic and will be using them again for the next instalment of 'go fast' bits.

protopak Member 10 Member For: 15y 9m 23d Posted 11/04/09 01:22 AM Author Share Posted 11/04/09 01:22 AM I have been considering the x force system. what sort of cat do they use? Im assuming its a 3.5inch system with a 4 inch dump? Why the fuel pump before the intercooler?

Get that 60 footer down to 2 seconds and you're looking at an easy 12.6, maybe even a 12.5 with that ET you're running now. It can be done.Or....Another XFT customer on this forum (xr6t ego) ran an 11.8 @ 120 MPH with the same mods/car as you plus a Process West stage one cooler & XFT's cat/dump...If you can possibly stretch the budget by a little, Id suggest a Process West stage III stand alone kit plus an aftermarket cat/dump & fuel pump upgrade. That could see you running mid 11's on good rubber.Good luck with those consistent 12's

Running dunlop sports maxx on the stock 17's so they are alright street tyres I guess. Unforunately my budget is limited as I will need a tune on top of the works and am about to be out of a job with our mine getting shut down .So it may be the more pocket friendly exhaust and cooler set up by the sound of it. The pump will be a better thing to do for reliability of not leaning out, especially with 300rwkw. Intercooler is a good thing to do for consistency but not more important than the pump. Do a cooler when you do the rest of the intake side of things such as plenum and intake kit as either way you are going to need to upgrade your fuel pump. protopak Member 10 Member For: 15y 9m 23d Posted 11/04/09 06:35 AM Author Share Posted 11/04/09 06:35 AM hmm..decisions decisions. This will probably be that last set of mods I do is all. So wont be upgrading to a plenum kit later. I dont think im gonna chase huge power figures as 300rwkw (give or take) is more than enough to cork an HSV owners pie hole on the street . Not to mention most other cars on the street. Car is a daily driver so I dont want things to start to break or wear prematurely (tyres exempt) with the power im putting through.Great feed back though guys. Kinda new to the scene so keep the tips coming in!!

Hopefully you're are financially okay until things pick back up again. It's interesting to hear rhat you were not having traction problems - I do still think consistent 12's are in it 'as is' though with a harder launch.Looking at mods, being a BF you're standard cat-back is good for more power than you're chasing. It's not ideal - but people run 350+rwkw through them - including the current Australian BA/F manual trans record holder (with his old setup & 11.51 record) - so if you want to make decent power to a budget I would leave it stock...If I had a BF XR6T & $3,000 - IMHO the best way to spend it would bePW stage III stand alone - it's sexxxy, good for eleventy billion rwkw's & can be adapted to future mods $1950.Walbro intank pump ~$200Cat - either a hi-flow unit (~$300) or a hi-flowed standard unit (~$0 )Dump - you can leave stock or change - just FYI another XFT customer with a stock dump is making 352rwkw & running 124 MPH So say $1950 + $200 + $300 = $2,450 leaving $550 which should cover fitting & tuning since you're already an XFT customer. That would give you a very relaxed low 300rwkw with the option for stacks more when funds permit. With those mods & you're tuner you could probably crack a 12 in reverse gear
