Hi guys,

friend of mine I work with currently drives a VZ Monaro CV8 and after a drive in the T a while back has been thinking about coming across from the dark side. He is looking at getting a BF mk2 XR6 Turbo ute or a Tornado. Just after some advice as to which to go for? Is he better off going for the Turbo paying a bit less and using the money saved from not buying the Tornado on mods for the Turbo which could see him with more power than a Tornado or is it a better choice to just get the Tornado? He has modded his CV8 a bit and should see about $35k going on similar ones that are for sale atm. Any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers

Brad

I had to make the same decision, decided on F6...

I wanted dual zone climate and leather, which was a bit easier to find in the FPVs...

Bigger brakes, rims... it all sort of added up to a fair bit of extra stuff, all with warranty (which I planned/plan on not turfing, for a little while anyway), for not a huge jump in price.

Brakes, overall exterior appearance and the seats and steering wheel are what really swayed me.

Not really the extra power that made my decision, and if warranty isn't an issue that takes it out of the playing field almost completely I reckon.

Being an FPV gets a bit more cred as well, bit of a wanker thing though hahaha.

Personal choice really, I mean it can all be put onto the XR6T, but whether he would want too, or whether that sort of stuff even appeals to him, I dunno.

Can't think of any major reason to go one way or the other...

If he is after luxury options go for the F6, as EDXR8 said they are easier to find in the FPV's. Overall I think the tornado looks better, but if performance is what he is after just pick up an XR6T, after 06/06 I think come with the stronger bottom end, pour some cash into it and away you go. Plus there are some absolute bargains on T's at the moment.

Thanks guy's yeah I had mentioned to him about the better int plus the fact of owning an FPV. He has his heart set on a Toxic one and wants to dump it with black rims, dont know if that limits things either way. Looking at carsales the average for XR6 Turbos is mid 20's-mid 30's and for FPV BF mk2 mid 30's-mid 40's.

Again thanks for the info guys I'll pass it on to him.

Cheers
