Hey are these cars (I have an fg xr6t) meant to pop on de-acceleration when using the tippy function. Or have I got a bung one.

Also the red rocker cover paint has started to peel at the front. Not very pretty for a lovely engine. Can you just paint it?

But whats a deal breaker is there is an oil leak. Only very small and not affected oil level bugger all but I can smell it when its been for a run and there is a drop on the garage. Not sure yet where its from. But oil leaks are my little pet hate! Is there any known obvious things it could be before I take her to the hospital?

I have an 04 ba xr6t, t5, 92,000, mint condition.

I'm aiming for a safe 300 or so rwkw, where do I start, bruce heinrich does ALL my work so he will be tuning it.

he seems to think first things first I buy the flash tuner, he will then tune it for 12 pound & then see where I have to go & what I need, could be injectors, pump etc. would this sound right?

Injectors+intank pump, valve springs, good intercooler, high flow cat (at least, dump+cat better), + new gearbox as I only ever hear how brittle the T5 is.

Also save for a surge tank - maybe get the process west fuel cell kit as I think it uses stock intank pump but go read the thread on it or ask Bruce if he's dealt with one yet.

Hey guys,

First time user/poster for this place looks awesome so far with the wealth of knowledge floating around the one place.

I have a question which hopefully you can help me with, I have a 2012 fg mk11 turbo ute and am looking at doing a cai on it, I'm mainly after noise for this one not power as that will come later when my warranty runs out.

What would be the best type of cai for me? I was looking at a plazmaman one

https://www.plazmaman.com/shop_itemdetail.php?itemid=61&cate=65

Or a growler one

http://www.ssinductions.com.au/products/Ford-FG-6Cyl-%26-6Cyl-Turbo-Growler-and-Big-Mouth-Combo.html

I have heard references to turbo side air intakes which I am assuming the first one is, is that better?

Sorry for all the noob-ness but I'm still slowly trying to educate myself as I go.

Cheers in advance guys!

(Also if this has previously been answered in another topic feel free to hurl abuse and point me to the right thread)

You would be best just adding the lower snorkle from an XR8/F6 onto it mate. Much cheaper and has the same effect. I did the same thing to my BA and made a much better induction note with a bit of flutter when you back off. BTW that plazmaman one is a turbo side intake which would need a retune.

*EDIT*

Not sure if retune would be needed but could interfere with stock intercooler piping

Thanks for the reply,

I have also seen references to the lower snorkel but haven't looked into that yet, I did read somewhere here that the turboside won't need a tune if that's the only mod? which it is.

I was under the assumption it would easily fit as it looks like the piping is done to suit my fg? I could be wrong but I would call and confirm before I purchased it.

Also if I'm planning on modding further later on would I be better off getting the turboside intake? To cut costs later down the track? (Also take me back to my question of is turboside better?)

Thanks for the help mate
