just spoke to the mechanic/tuning mob over the road from my work and discussed briefly about tunes.

he said he has a custom tune from his G6E that he could load and modify. he did talk about seeing how far he could get a tune with stock injectors but form reading here im under the impression its not much. he also said that if I wanted they will gut the cat if I wanted to save cash.

he was concerned about the fuel system (pump) when approaching 300kw that I "may" need a new pump. but I told him im really only chasing 270-290 type numbers for now. he's ordering me a flash tuner though which is good to know.

im not wholely convinced at present though as what he says doesnt instill a heap of confidence given what im reading on here, I almost tend to trust you guys on here a little more at the moment haha.

EDIT: oh and he gets his tunes from a guy named Dave from Mackay who is an "XR6T tuning god" he says :)

CAI

The following will require a custom tune

Hi flowCat ( stock system flows ok with just this), remove centre muffler and replace with straight through pipe/hot dogs if you want more noise

injectors

pump

I/Cooler

Save up a get all your hardware including a "decent" I/Cooler and get the lot fitted and tuned at once

Not all all, will probably just show less power then it actually has with the big wheels. Also your speedo might be slightly out.

Can you adjust the speedo reading with tuning if you change to 20s or is it a fixed gearing thing?

Speedo can be calibrated however if the rolling diameter is close to the same with the 20s it shouldn't be out by much.. Do a quick check with a gps on the highway.

hey guys just picked up my Rapid V2.0 from chris. looks the business and cant wait to install. I hear from a few people should be alright to put on and not tune as I am going to put them on then gather up injectors, hi flow cat and then get them to install the cat and injectors and tune it. should this be ok?

also im not t sure about a flash tune and getting a xcal and tuning it...is a flash tune where you only have one tune on the factory comp and getting a xcal means you can have up to three?

cheers

Flash tuning involves using the xcal3. It can hold 3 tunes plus the stock (which is unusable) tune.

Id get all the bits and put them on all at once, dont go risking driving with no tune and the intercooler changed it may be alright but it may not.
