Cold air Intake - Best bet here is to get the F6 Typhoon second snorkel in the BA/BF range, and to go for the XR8 additional snorkle in the FG range. Both Cheap upgrades, with the BA/BF CAI costing about $80 and giving up to 11rwkw.Does this apply or work or fit on a territory turbo?

You will need a tune as the bigger injectors will require a lower duty cycle to run the same as your current injectors.

Hi Guys,

Just bought a BA Mk2 XR6T(done 80K) & before I do any (minor)mods it probably needs a good service 1st(service history unknown).

1. Does it pay to get the dearer air filters, fuel filters(all fuel filters are the same?), spark plugs(at how many km's), & will it increase power at all, or just run more efficiently?

2. Any other things in the service that will improve power delivery/efficiency? I have read things like clean Boost Solenoid, throttle body....anything else?

3. Exhaust...its mentioned to change the CAT.....is changing from CAT back only usless & a waste of money in terms of extra power? If it helps, roughly by how many KW's? I see many for sale on ebay(cat back).

4. Might sound like a silly question, but is Premium(98 octane) a must? Do you notice the difference or should you be shot for even thinking of using regular unleaded?Ford specify turbo's can run on regular unleaded(91 octane) but then Ford say alot of thingsshutup.gif

Hi Dush73.

I have also just bought a BA Mk2 XR6T (ute, manual, 77,000km), and am loving it so far.

As for your question 4, it will run on 91 octane (they are low compression engines and at low boost after all), but will get mildly reduced power.

As for you other questions, I am very new so I won't bother speculating/opinionating

Cheers

1) not sure. Worth doing plugs as soon as you get it though

2) you've already got the basics sussed.

3) just a cat change I'd good for low 300s.

Changing cat will require a tune. Up to $1000 before you ask.

Thanks for the reply's so far.

So I'll take it that a cat back only exhaust will do little to nothing in increasing performance, & might as well leave the stock one in?

What are opinions on air filters? Had a look at Repco's site & the Lukey air filters claim extra 8kw(on a SS).....a myth or money well spent?

Spark plugs are good for 150K according to Ford. Are people here changing them alot sooner anyway?
