but on urs, 13.5-14.8v is exceptabel voltage 4 t's depending on load 15 is a touch to high

and many other things can cause both under or overcharging inside the alt not just rectifiers.

and the rectifier is in the alt btw, your post made it sound like its external :)

kewl - sorry bout that - I always thought ya could replace the rectifier :thumbsup: - least I was close lol

sorry guys I was thinking of the regulator not the rectifier my bad :idunno:

those alts on the t's r sh*thouse

I always just fit new one's not that dear either.

9/10 times power steering fluid is the cause and it eats the slip ring off the rotor and isnt worth fixing

yeah it will once started the alt will cover the electri cal demands

however like I said the voltage will be to high, the battery is the main regulator or voltage as the battery is basically a big resistor that absorbs charge.

anything over 15v is a big danger to ecu's and elec components,

TR/TS magna alts have been overcharging 4 years and blowing ecus in minutes.

I couldn't count how many ecu/alt combos ive done on them lol

well its all sorted, had RACV come out this arvo, ended up being the thingo (forgoten name of it due to excessive drinking 2day) in the fuse box that controls the fuel pump, was switching it on and off and wasnt keeping enough fuel pressure in the rail, changed ova the thingo and its all good now! cheers for the help though guys :roflmbo:
