aight, was on my way home last night when I started to notice a problem in the T, was driving great, like normal, except for when I was nearly home and the car lost all power, didnt stall but the revs were dropping really low n was having a really hard time to keep going, occasionally the battery light was comming on when I put my foot down to stop it from stalling, any ideas??

well its definate voltage issue. what you need to do is put another battery in, strart her upand lift off the positive lead, the car should keep running if the altenator is still good. If the engine stops then its a dead altenator or hopefully a loose battery lead connection on the back of the altenator, if you have a digital multi meter put that on the batt leads and monitor the voltage. If the engine keep running the voltage should be sitting atleast 13volts anything less wont charge the battery so well. its a long shot but its not the drive belt (drives altenator, power steer etc...) is it? check those few things and get back to us.

Don't disconnect the positive lead with the engine running. Doing that can damage the rectifier and control box semi-conductor.

:idunno:

One sure way to f*ck it right up is running it without a battery!

Wouldn't be the first time an alternator has died in one of these, but could really be a myriad of things I guess. Don't think there's any decent auto sparkies on here either

ya best way to test it kona would be to start it up and put a multimeter across the terminals it should read about 13 - 15 volts - if it is higher your rectifier is knackered - it it is lower your alternator is knackered

dont EVER do that

even worst than fuking the alt

the output voltage will increase to possibly 20volts due to no load from the battery

damaging much more expensive things than just the alt

such as ecu's etc

get it check properly kona man

I dont recon it sounds like alt problem as putting your foot down shouldnt have any effect on idle? dunno

could be mate, id say alt light coming on cause idle rpm dropping 2 low
