How old is your battery...found when mine was dying on the BF if it didn't start properly I'd get all this weird sh*t happening.

Is this happening as you're driving along or when you first start it?

You might have a point there Tab,.....if I leave my lights on without the car running for just ten minutes or so the battery won't have enough to start the car......they tell me the life of a battery is only around three years and my car is exactly three years old this month (and out of warranty) so a new high CCA one is on the shopping list this week.

As for the second question, when this "glitch" Ive been telling you about kicks in......its only ever happened when the car is up to temp....

When its cold, it occasionally feels like it starts on only about five cylinders, but none of the engine or ETC lights come on and its only for a few seconds or so....then it comes good and were' away.

Yeah, when I spoke with the auto electrician yesterday, he said that Ford skimped out on putting good batteries in these things......reckons they should have had a couple of hundred more CCAs than what they've got.

But as much as I'd like to believe a stuffed battery is causing these cutouts......I just don't think so..

Nah I'd say not; good work on getting three years out of the little bastard though

Just trade the car in on a newie....guaranteed to fix it :idunno:

It will be your electronic throttle control, im not sure why it happens but mine did the same thing, you need to take it to ford, and they reset the code for it.

since then ive never had an issue and that was like 2 1/2 years ago

any updates on this?

mine started doing the same thing really bad on a road trip over the weekend (has done it around town previously, but not enough to worry about).

I starts off only cutting out about about 3500rpm but if I keep driving eventually it cuts out under any load at all. ECU recorded a DTC saying something about the Throttle Control Actuator causing a forced engine shutdown.

is a throttle body clean/replacement likely to fix this?
