I know its a long shot, but if you have the activation key for your windows OS, ring Microsoft support they may be able to provide you with information if your laptop ever goes online again.

On a lighter note, my brother had some stuff stolen and the police took finger prints away from the scene. 2 years later out of the blue he got a call saying they had caught the buggers. Its not the revenge my brother wanted, but at least he had the satisfaction of having the buggers charged in court.

Went past a few pawn shops the other day, none of them seemed to have anything - a couple seemed dodgy, but they weren't interested in showing me anything they "just got in"...
