Hi all,

spent some time on the car yesturday - went to debadge the rear badges and found the glue had eaten through the clearcoat and paint down to the bare metal! it had bubbled up the paint which was soft and pliable. I used heat and fishingline to remove the badges and ended up putting them back on due to the crap glue underneath them...

question is - is this normal? I have debadged a few cars before - not falcons - and never had glue eat into paint!

now I'm up for a respray (which wont happen due to our baby arriving in 6 week)

I took mine off after about 2 years of ownership and it was fine - how old is your car? Also, has the rear of your car ever been repaired? Could be a sign of a bad paint job....

its definately been played with before, either it has had paintwork done which wasnt up to scratch or the badges have been taken off and re-stuck on with some dodgy glue or tape. my guess would be that its been painted though, and the badges have been stuck back on before the paint was properly dried/cured.

Well that sure does suck... You might have to replace the badges on the mean time
