Old Remote Controls - Compatible With Ba ?

I have a spare remote for my EL Fairmont, which is really handy (I have one, my wife has one, and that leaves this spare for the office Staff to use)

I'm assuming that the BAs only come with 2 remotes ? and would like to continue with the third if at all possible.

Does anyone know if this older remote will work on the BAs ? I read somewhere that whilst the remote was a different shape, the data transmissions were the same.

Anyone know if this is true ?

when you pick your car up, ask the salesman to see if it will. you will have to have all 3 remotes present. not sure if it will work, but there's only one way to find out!!!

from memory, new ba sedan remotes will cost you around 50 to 60 clams.

could be wrong with the price, im sure someone will say if I am! im not at work at the moment, so I dont know exactly.

Do utes come with only one remote or two? I was only given one when I picked it up. Do I need to hunt down the second???

Yep, utes only come with one.

Ford cost cutting at its best :(

Must just be a new thing with the BA's. I was hoping there was still a spare one floating around at the dealers. Thanks for the help.

Utes are supposed to come with two. Well..... we give all ute owners two remotes regardless of how many ford give out.

Maybe everyone else is cost cutting........

Read the bible on the car and it tells ya how to program new remotes, keys etc. It will tell you straight away if the remote will work.

Exactly what I decided to do, hang on to the spare and give it a go ! My EL went to it's new owner today, and the XR is waiting for me in the showroom ready for pickup at 9:00am tomorrow. I've kept the spare remote and will try it out and let people know.
