Just wondering how to fit the bonnet protector on a bf mkii. The instructions say there should be studs to screw the nuts onto but under my bonnet at the front there are just holes. Anyone fitted one to a bf or have any pics? Thanks

There should be some little white plugs to go in those holes, if they did not come with the protector you may have to visit Ford parts.

Found out today from ford that the bf mkii xr6 and xr6 turbo have the same bonnet as the ba. Only the normal Bf model has the diff bonnet

Is this correct?

I want to get an XR8 bonnet for my BF MK2, however the one I'm looking at ($280 changeover, unpainted) the guy mentions wont fit BF MK2 as the bonnets are different. I've got a bonnet protector on my car at the moment, funnily enough was listed as the same part as the BA's (aftermarket, not genuine Ford)

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Falcon-BA-BF-XR8-Turbo-Bonnet-Hood-Hump-CHANGOVER-we-keep-your-bonnet-/260919785778?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cc007f932#ht_1228wt_1037

Here's what else he said when I questioned why it wont fit..

bonnet will probably fit to screw in... (probably, never tried)... but BF2 bonnet has a moulding on the top, BA/BF doesn't... so you have to change the grille... but BA/BF grille doesn't fit BF2 bar... so you have to change the bar... but then again, BA/BF bar doesn't fit BF2 headlights... so you would have to change head lights as well. you end up changing over the entire front. (guards are the same). this full changover is possible provided you don't end up with some other problem with the parts you can't see... not likely, but would have to try to be 100%

putting a XR8 bonnet might be possible with the custom steel mesh or maybe fiberglass grille (to prevent changing all other parts)... or modified BA/BF or BF2 grille.

Can someone please explain what the differences are (if any).

Also, will my heat shielding stuff on my XR6 bonnet be able to be put onto the XR8 bonnet (just wont fill in the hump)??

All BA,BF,BF Mk2 Falcon Xr6 bonnets are the same. Only the XT,Futura,Fairmont got the new bonnet on the BF Mk2. The bonnet will fit your XR as for your heat shielding same part number for all XR6/XR8. I would recommend a genunine bonnet then a chep aftermarket one

I would just buy the cheap bonnet and get a panel beater to fit it up once painted their not that bad how can you tell the difference.

Just re-read I have that exact bonnet as mentioned in the ebay add from mr car parts brought recently the fit is not the greatest, but I will see how good we can get it fitted tomorrow as its getting painted I can take a before and after if your interested on fitment etc.

You will tell the difference in a car accident genuine panels might cost alot more but well worth it in the long run. They might look the same but will fail in a car accident

The XR8 bonnet wasnt designed for looks, but purely to get over the huge old/crap dinosaur Boss engine.

Not saying dont mod your T if you like the shape, good luck with it, but modding an XRT to look like an Xr8 is an interesting choice.....!!! (loved the bonnet on the burgundy G6T in another thread though, suited it being outside the XR range IMO)
