Hi guys,

I have brought a XR6T MK1 5 speed man,upgraded intercooler,exhaust,air intake,injectors,My question is,what is the safest maximum RWKW for a MK1 5sp,including engine,and gearbox,I do not mind putting a new heavy duty clutch,but sticking with same 5spd box.Please advice

Well that's a lot of mods, have you had it tuned yet? If so, what are you making now? The 5 speed will handle a fair bit as long as its babied everywhere you go. A mate here at work has 340rwkw and still using the stock box (upgraded cluth and flywheel though) but he takes it very easy. Eventually it will break, if you can afford to install a t56, I would. Peace of mind.

250 - 280 rwkw and some mechanical sympathy, the T5 might survive. They have gone bang on stockers.

Start saving for a T56. Give Mal Wood a call

The T5 is a glass gearbox and will fail even on stock power.

It is all about how you drive it, as they do not like the shock of all the Turbo's torque, so dumping the clutch will result in a broken gearbox.

The first mode I would do is replace the gearbox with a T56 or T6060.
