Holy Flippen Hell Mate sorry to hear. Lets hope they get it back to you like new again and that it's a one off fault with your engine. Let us know exactly what the problem was that caused the engine failure.

Very dissapointing to happen to a brand new car.

Slightly O/T a previous 2003 Liberty 2.5 I owned from new sh@t it's clutch at 5,000klms and Subaru came to the party. So it's not just Fords.

Yeah when the engine just goes bang that is a big worry, I was just lucky it didnt happen when the missus was driving the car. Lets just say shes very very angry about it all at the moment and me well I now wish I had bought a GT or a Clubsport R8

Oh well, lets see if Fords after sales service has improved at all since the last time I bought a new ford (1994)

You know when you think about it, there must be thousands of T engines been built since they first started making them and I (personally) have not heard of a brand new one (well not with less than a 1,000ks on it) going bang.

So it has to be a faulty part (piston, rod, dropped valve) or something like that. How was the oil level at the time it spat the dummy? I would assume it had been checked before delivery and I doubt it would chew through that much oil in 900 odd ks.

With the car 1 week old, I'd be wanting a new one. At the very least a loaner of equal value!

Ford's service is woeful. With H/O in volved, they should just authorise a new car, and thake yours back to use for research. Idiots

I'd feel so 'dirty' to get the car back, and from the sounds of it your mechanical mind will keep you in a state of perpetual worry as to whether it's all been done properly or just 'looks like it'

Not sure of the exact processes mate, I just know that they will not replace the entire car.

Try spending $150k and that happends.They are a massed produced engine so there is always going to be defected parts or human error.Ive heard of the same things with Expensive Daewoo and ford V8,s aswell.
