Well as my thread title says, have I bought a problem child AKA G6ET.....

Reason I say the above is today my G6ET shat itself in a big cloud of blue smoke and steam. It seems the turbo or engine on my less than 1 week old (only has 907kms on the clock) brand new car has died in a huge smokey display just a street from my Ford dealer.

The car started making a bad "ticking" noise a couple of mins before and I thought sh*t that sounds like "rattly lifters", as I was in some heavy traffic I couldnt just pull over to have a quick looksy under the bonnet and seeing as I was going past my ford dealer I thought I may as well just pull in there but of course the car died right out in front of the now defunct mitsubishi factory here in Adelaide.

Upon inspection after the above happened the car seem to have a sump full of water and oil (by looking on the dipstick and also seeing that the coolant tank was empty) The head mechanic agreed that the turbo has died or the engine has dropped a piston.

Well heres some news as I was writing this thread, my Ford dealer rang.... They have the turbo off the car and it "looks" fine BUT upon lifting the head off (in record time I might add) they said number 3 piston is gone! and the bore is gouged badly. He said seeing as this car is so new and of very low Kms, ford corporate are now getting involved. Oh :stirthepot: great how long will it take to get my car back now that those turkeys have there noses in it.

yeah bad luck does happen.. dw last time I had my car at ford for servicing.. they only half filled it with oil..

Yeah im preparing myself for the worst and expect the car to be "roughly" put back together after a engine change..... :spoton:

Ive already pre warned them that if there is one scratch or dent on the car or any grease on the cashmere leather I will go off (im not a good person to upset  ) At least they know not to bullsh*t me as I have vast mechanical expierience and they also know that I worked for MMAL for 10yrs in R&D

:spoton:

It's not a sign of things to come, just a freak occurrence. The power of positive thought

Hopefully with the extra attention it’ll be fixed sooner than normal.

At least it won't be a rebuild, they will most likely put in a new long motor.

Yeah itll be a "long" motor BUT will it be a complete motor (with new turbo etc on it), I highly doubt it knowing Ford.

I also asked them if they were going to replace the cat convertor etc because it got dumped with a gutful of oil, the response I got was probably not because it "looks" fine, just a bit wet (just like they said about the turbo when they pulled it off) Im really getting depressed with it all.

Oh well I guess time will tell if it gets fixed properly, so far ive been treated ok by my dealer.

Yeah true ford is good a spilling sh*t but my dealer knows my mechanical background/knowledge and one of the head guy (Lee Kernich) at Fords powertrain development use to work with me at MMAL research and development.. Hopefully he gets a look in on the engine blow up.

Sorry for all the whinging, I guess im just upset that a near on $56000 new car has shat itself so quickly and ironically right in front of my old workplace (MMAL)
