:beerchug:

Just got Nizpro valve springs put in my baby. Mechanic mate said be ready be lunchtime today (had it since Yesterday morning to do valve springs and walbro pump). Hadn't heard anything as of 1.30 today and was starting to worry. Rings me at 2pm and says "dude we have a problem". So after I pick my heart up off the floor and put it back in my chest he tells me as they were putting everything back after doing the springs he noticed the hard casing has completely worn away from a section of the camshaft. :innocent:

Says "Good news is but the rest looks brand new, very nice" he says. Some consolation I suppose. Just spent 6500 on her with new mags, rapids kit, the valve springs, fuel pump, body work from a shopping trolley. Just fuming there was no way of knowing this before hand. Now instead of being able to go out and have some fun, I have to drive around like grandma till I can come up with more doe for new camshafts :Sug1:

Now keep I mind, granted, I drive her hard, but she is known to be very well looked after when it comes to servicing and looking after her in all the other ways. She is 800k short of 100000k's. There was no indication of this obviously prior to exposing the situation by doing the valve springs. Point is if this hadn't been done, I wouldnt have known, continued to drive her like she was stolen and then paid heavily when the kaboom came. :mexicanwave:

If you get the chance to expose the camshafts, do so. if just for the sake of knowing you wont be dropping cylinders any time soon. Just need to work out which kid to sell on ebay now so I can pay for this lol. Doesn't help being on workers comp for the last 5 months. Another reason why I wished I would have known about it before hand. Fingers crossed she lasts long enough for me to scrape some more doe together. Been told to just put another standard one in rather than go brand new. Just weighing up the options over new and better, new and same or 2nd hand same but in A1 condition. See how we go, think im having my hopes a little to high to think anyone out there happens to have set of originals sitting around from when they upgraded in A1 condition?

Seriously though, if you can check this out...do so. Better safe than sorry.

seen crows for 699. Has a clip of the sound coming from a T. Sounds sweet. Guru working on it says just put same back in. So yeah, mission just started, see how I go.

He showed me a photo he took on his phone to show me (and before anyone asks I trust this guy, he aint one of the dodgy ones) he showed me a pic of the cams, not sure how to describe it but imagine taking a pic of the cams in like he did, how you have the individual ridges of the camshaft 9not sure what theyre called) well on one of those it looked like a bit of chrome that had a small tarnished section if that makes sense. He said there was a couple of small shavings, so small nothing to worry about he says.

Question is how long have they been like that. I have had her since 43000, she is now 99350 roughly and I have driven her like she was stolen every chance I have had. So one side's thinking not biggy, do it but take your time as it could have been like that for a while whilst the other side is thinking now I have bigger and better valve springs the stress passes on to the next dodgy part which looks like to be the camshaft so I need to do it asap me thinks. He has done heaps of T's, has one himself and is scratching his head at why it has done what its done. He seems to think might have been a factory standard dodgy part. Cant see any other reason. Happy that it was found when it was found, pi$$ed off that I havent got any doe left after spending 7500 on her in the last 2 weeks. Just wish there was some way of knowing about this and I would of held off on something else and got the cams done. Oh well, sh*t happens. Ringing fraud tomorrow out of curiosity on what a new set is worth from them.

Pretty weary of Atomic SENNA T after listening to alot of people in the know and coming to my own conclusions from that. This guy builds race engines for a living and swears Nizpro are the way to go so that's what I did. Cant mention his name as he likes to stay incognito and doesnt like to get involved in all the politics that comes with mechanical talk. Has his own opinions and beliefs like most. Its just that I have found his to be more believable than others. You know how you can tell who is pulling your wad and who isnt?

It's a shame to hear of your woes..

but as much as it hurts to hear, addative - good addative - would have prevented this. The filings are obviously bad, bad a good addative like 'Microglide', or the previous revision 'EF' or even 'PROMA' would have stoipped the filings wearing the surfaces, and would have dislodged the filings before making them at home as was the case in your motor.

Hopefully for your motors sake you look into the benefits further.

Good luck from here on

:useless: english please :banghead:

Oil changed every 5000 with penrite, coolant is a you beaut one (cant think of the name of it off the top of my head, its out in the shed), penrite ATF. I dont take shortcuts with maintaining and servicing my baby which is the vibe I'm getting here (sorry if im wrong).

Been told by the guy who works on my girl that it had to be a dodgy part from factory. If there was such an issue like "additive" I'm dead sure it would of been the first thing that came out of his mouth when I asked him what had caused it.

From the moment I have had her I have followed this guys every word on how to look after her. This guy builds race, drag, drift engines for a living and has a very good reputation and impressive results from his work + I usually drop down to see him when he is in the middle of a 15-20000 race engine build so have seen his handy work first hand so I feel safe in following his guidance.

He said that the hardcasing had only just started to come away and the filings found were nothing to worry about (if there was anything to worry about he would have told me) and also said that the rest looked pretty schmick so Im just glad he picked it up when he did. Have spoken to fraud techs and they have never heard of it happening before either.

Once I get the doe I will put another new one in (only need the exhaust one) and then I'll get it rechecked about 3000k's later I think would be enough time to wait and see if the other or this one starts showing problems again, if not, then must have been dodgy from day dot which then makes me sh*t thinking how long I have been flogging her and at any time it could have sh*t itself, least I know this is all I have to do to get her back to normal.
