a possible problem is the battery, our cars alarm went off one morning at about 5:30, went out and checked everything, nothing wrong, started fine in the morning, next night the same, and again for a few nights (needless to say the neighbours weren't happy. Took the car to work, put it on an osciliscope (engine diagnostic thingymabob), showed battery wasn't happy, put a new one in and it solved it. Hasn't happened since.

I would also say check the battery, it does some very weird things to these cars when they're not too healthy.

It has been known to upset the alarm (as said above, horns, settings etc...

Yes the battery will cause this every time. In fact my sunroof preset buttons stopped working and the manual actually says replace battery for that as well. My car would unlock itself and set of the alarm. New batery fixed it.
