Called a couple of scooter shops close to work and their helmets only have "AS/NZS1698" on the Australian Standard sticker and a build date inside the helmet.

Have sent an email to motorplex to get clarification if the ":2006" needs to be printed on the helmet or if that is just a the year the helmet was manufactured after.

Surely they require it printed? Toads can you confirm? I think the site says it's not manufacture date they care about .

Wow check out this bargain! Found my new helmet

lyc9TGZ.png

just called Helmet House on Albany Hwy 9362 1758 and the girl never heard of the 2006 extension...she's checking details and calling me back.

ok she said it's such a new standard they barely have any and the only helmets they have are $300+

But further info is that it's a blue australian standards sticker not the normal red and silver one...

edit edit edit

Go Gear reckon they have them, full face $150

Steve, you need to get your eyes tested mate.

Do you call $809.95 a bargain?

Fark, I am glad you have that sort of coinage laying around.

Care to donate a few quids down this way?

:P

The new helmets have this sticker:

Free-shipping-2013-LS2-Top-Carbon-fiber-

My helmet has this sticker on it:

Hopefully motorplex get back to me and clarify.

Could just be that the Scooter shops I called don't sell helmets that are AS/NZS1698:2006

Reply form Motorplex:

There are only two standards:

- AS1698-1988 and AS/NZS1698:2006.
There is no such standard as AS/NZS1698 without “:2006”.
I would suggest you ask the shops again, as they colloquially drop the “:2006” when referring to the AS/NZS1698.
It is the AS/NZS1698:2006 standard which is now accepted as the minimum standard by the WA Roads and the governing body of drag racing, ANDRA.

Even their rules and regulation on helmets show an example sticker that only has "AS/NZS1698" on it without the ":2006"

My five or six year old crappy black half face has AS/NZ1698:2006 in it.

Have they looked at the cloth tag INSIDE the helmet ?

edit; going by the comment that there is "no such thing as AS/NZ1698 without the 2006" means that if it says AS/NZ1698 on the back it should be good.

I would still look at the tag inside the lid though to be sure.

double edit: weather looking good now !
