Ford Performance Vehicles will continue to accelerate its position as Australia’s most-advanced high performance car company with confirmation this week of a five-year extension to the joint venture agreement between Ford Motor Company of Australia Ltd and Prodrive Automotive Technology Ltd.

Ford Performance Vehicles is a joint venture company, 51 per cent owned by British-based Prodrive, one of the world’s leading independent automotive engineering companies, and 49 per cent owned by Ford Australia.

FPV builds the GT, GT-P and Pursuit Ute, all of which are powered by the high-tech Boss 290 engine - the only V8 engine to be developed and produced in Australia exclusively by Ford Performance Vehicles.

The joint venture agreement between Ford Australia and Prodrive to manage Ford Performance Vehicles was reviewed recently between Ford Australia President Geoff Polites and Prodrive group CEO Nick Fry, and subsequently has been extended to 2008.

“This is great news for everyone concerned with our business – but most importantly for our customers,” says David Flint, managing director of Ford Performance Vehicles.

“This extension gives us increased confidence to move forward and execute plans to expand the business and FPV’s product portfolio, capitalizing on the impact we have generated with the range of FPV models this year.

“It also sends a clear signal that the joint venture is working, and the cars we are building have hit the spot with the Australian market.

“It is a sign of confidence from its two shareholders, the Ford Motor Company of Australia and Prodrive Automotive Technology, that FPV has the right ingredients in place to produce the most outstanding range of Australian high-performance cars ever built.”

Ford President Geoff Polites says the extension of the joint venture agreement highlights the success that Ford Performance Vehicles has achieved in less than 12 months and complements the outstanding results Ford Australia has received with its BA Falcon.

“The partnership we have formed with Prodrive Automotive Technology to create Ford Performance Vehicles is as good as we could ever have imagined,” added Polites.

“It was therefore a simple decision to move forward and extend the joint venture agreement for a further five years, and Ford Australia is confident the benefits of this decision will further boost the success of our business.”

The announcement of the joint venture extension coincides with record sales of FPV models since deliveries began in March.

There won't be a turbo with more power than the gt's and gt-p's that are out now they are not going to screw over people who have just spent more than 60,000 on gt and more than 70,000 on gt-p it will probably come out with 270-280kw it will still blow off the 8 just not have bragging rights on power

hey,

if anyone could tell me im just curious to know y not all ford deals are selling the fpv range. but all dealers are aloud to servce them ???

any info would b great

thanx

l thought you could only buy a GT from an FPV dealer but l have some PR stuff from Ford that says you can buy a GT from ANY dealer.

FPV's can be serviced by any dealer because at the end of the day its a Ford and a lot of componentry is obviously common. besides if you couldnt one of the major benefits with buying a Ford would be lost, that is the ability to have it fixed nearly anywhere around Oz.

Only FPV dealers can sell new GT's.

Any dealer can service your GT - but ANY dealer can service it including any Holden, toyota, etc and you wont be voiding the warranty.

You can order an FPV from any dealer in Australia. From Ford's website - a press release from last year.

Ford Performance Vehicles Dealers Have Australia Covered

The upcoming Ford Performance Vehicles GT, GT-P and Pursuit have caught the imagination of Ford dealers around Australia with 67 already signed up to become authorised Ford Performance Vehicles dealers.

FPV Managing Director, David Flint, is delighted at the response from Ford dealers.

"The reaction from dealers to the three vehicles currently on our list – and their eagerness for any other potential future models we may produce – has been fantastic.

"It mirrors the reaction from customers to the vehicles we displayed at the Sydney Motor Show," said David.

"However, just wanting to become a Ford Performance Vehicles dealer isn't enough. All 67 of the dealers we've signed up have agreed to a set of operating principles that will ensure our customers get the best service at all times."

Each state and territory will have at least one Ford Performance Vehicles dealer, with dealership locations ranging from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia to the centre of Sydney.

The dealerships will be easily identified from early 2003 by their prominent Ford Performance Vehicles signage and FPV branded showroom facilities.

Although the FPV range of vehicles will be produced in low volumes, each dealer will also have representative FPV models in stock for display and demonstration purposes.

"Even though many buyers are already ordering new FPV models sight-unseen before prices are announced, most buyers of premium models need to assess their prospective purchase in careful detail," says David.

In addition to the 67 authorised FPV dealers, enthusiasts without access to an authorised dealer can order their vehicle from any one of the 232 Ford retail sites around Australia.

"We wanted to give our customers the option of where they buy their vehicle," says David.

"While the 67 authorised dealers will have prominent signage, specially trained service staff and vehicles for display and demonstrations, other Ford dealers can sell a vehicle by ordering through an authorised FPV dealer. They will also be provided with the training necessary to handle service requirements."

Prospective customers can locate their closest authorised Ford Performance Vehicles dealer by logging on to www.fordperformancevehicles.com.au .
