It's kinda sad that the XR's don't wear the FPV badge... I miss the the Tickford badge on the old AU XR8. If I can get my hands on a FPV badge it'll be on the car straight away... under the front indicators just looks a little bare

I agree. I would have preferred the XR badge to remain under the front indicator as well, as all performance Fords should wear their identification.

I can't say I am too thrilled about the XR range losing this piece of Identity. What we are effectively talking about is marking bullsh*t. The strongest implication was certainly at club level, but lets face facts. For the sake of keeping it simple, any car that has been handled by FPV, and maintains the original brief to carry the wings should by definition, also carry the mark of FPV in some way.

It was an issue with our club and I guess mainly with people that have been with Tickford XRs all along. It was important. As ford performance owners of the last 20 years we have had to explain and educate the public. The BA should have put an end to this once and for all, but sadly owners of Turbos and Xr8s have a FPV car to the fullest extend as dictated by history, only to lose it on what is a questionable marketing ploy. ( I assume people saw the rare shot of the Tickford wings in the BA instrumentation, where the XR logo now sits.)

I tried to explore alternative suggestion with David on this subject, but for "now" this situation is going to remain. If FPV continue to do the leg work on the XR car in future models, then they really should have a good look at themselves. Having said all this, it is working. I wouldn't mind betting the owner survey mentions this point with common regularity.

Your point is well made. Any owner worth his salt is going to do what the factory should have done in the first place. Where is the exclusivity then. It might be rice to do but it will be the the truth, and the ford enthusiast is going to know that and nod accordingly. After all, weren't we all sent FPV stickers to put on our XRs????

I agreed with David in that the XR range probably shouldn't wear the FPV in the same way as the GTs do, but there could have been a compromise, which wouldn't have hurt exclusivity. Just remember how well exclusivity works when you are trying to make a profit.

Even though some would frown upon putting additional badges onto a car, like a few others around I have my own opinions too.

I for another will be getting two small FPV badges and applying one either side of the car, under the side indicators.

The XR6 Turbo is to my mind (as is the XR8) an FPV-touched product.

I'm not about to put big FPV stickers all over the windscreen or anything, I'd just like the small (size of a 50 cent piece or so) badge that says it has been through FPV.

They took away my Tickford wings that I had grown so attached to from my EL XR6 days... gimme something in compensation!

and I never got any FPV stickers!!!

I would do the same thing. It is the truth and under the circumstances it certainly isn't a "rice thing to do"

So what you are left with is a public that is going to do what the factory should have done. Where does this leave your exclusivity?

Far better to control the situation in the first place

Mmmmmmm...this thread got a bit off topic. I realise that FPV had a big part of the development of the XR6T I was just wondering if FPV are going to take one and modify it (similar to what HSV do with Holdens) and release as their own.

I saw a post by Venom on aus.cars newsgroup a few months ago where he mentioned a 260kw FPV XR6T and was hoping someone might have more info on this. Maybe Ford/FPV will continue to do things as they are and this 260kw version is simply BAII.

To go off topic again, are the GT and GT-Ps going to have FPV badges? It doesn't look like it from the few GT pics I've seen so far. I don't really care that much myself (other people get pretty emotional about it...), as long as we have a kick arse car that has a Ford badge on it I don't care what other badges it has or hasn't got!

I know that everyone will hate me when I say this but just as the SS Late model camira is a Expensive Daewoo product and not HSV, the XR6T and XR8 are being marketed as Ford models - not FPV. The fact that FPV did the work on them doesn't mean anything. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to put those badges on 'cos I think they need something on each guard and I even considered FPV-XR6 number plates. But will the motoring enthusiast look at the owner of an XR6T whose has put these badges on in the same way as the dickhead driving the VN SS with HSV stickers all over it. I don't think that's a fair cop but I'm suggesting that that's how it will be viewed.
