Good choice! I liked the flat black :)

The head is not quite finished though porting has been complete. The intake was just cleaned up a little but exhaust was opened to suite 50mm OD manifold piping and larger 33mm valves. We've gone 1mm larger on the exhaust valve. I do plan to do a flow bench test to see what we get but that still isn't really conclusive.

From what I understand, there are some gains to be made by using a larger valve and posting on the exhaust side. I've heard some anecdotal evidence that going to large an exhaust valve make power go backwards however I didn't find out what exactly was done in that situation. I'm taking advisement from people who are experts so I'll just have to suck it and see. If it doesn't work out, number 2 head will make an appearance :)

if your going to have a big stall 600 would be hard! also isnt this a t51r..aka gt4508r. better cut some holes in your bonnet :P

Hey Quin,

aka T51r is not a Gt4508 lol, if you need to give the GT4508 a nickname or aftermarket comparison it would be this HKS Turbine - T62R [14001-AK015] - $5,952.99 : CJ Motor, Japanese Import JDM Performance Parts & Accessories

Cheers

A little bit Spiko.

Sent a valve spring and retainer to Ferrea to sus out options for a valve, spring, retainer and keeper option. Waiting for that to arrive. Should get there soon.

I've sent the bottom end back to machine shop to have work done for Gas Motorsports main caps and have the Atomic girdle, mains caps, studs, side bolts and sump test fitted. Last I heard was it all went together NP but the sump is touching in the odd spot. Clearance will be made to get it on but that is not a peoblem I'm told. The sump will not have to be modified.

Now I'm thinking about how the oil pump is going to cope spinning to 7500rpm so I'm looking into possibilities. The only one I've come up with so far is a dry sump setup but that is a little out of budget! I'll get a little more info and we might need to cap rpm a little lower but I'm really not sure what a modified stock pump is capable of or what I need to do ATM.

The build continues!

Spiko: Yes, I've thought about the rear end :) Seriously, too much. Tailshaft will be a custom job to suit the 4l65e conversion. Probably a chrome moly unit. CV's and half-shafts will just be selected from what' available. As far as diff housing strength, I have some ideas which I've mentioned before, about a twin bush setup and strengthening the cradle. I still think it's a step forward and would do nicely for people wanting to run 9's in autos. I have spoken to a couple of people about a custom cast hat. No problems there. But the issue for me is fabricating a master or prototype. I neither have the skills nor time to do that sort of work ATM.

mic: The Atomic housing is what I've got in mind, but I'm still a little concerned about longevity making 1000+HP. I suppose it depends on how often it makes that kind of power.

tray_182005: I wish! ETA? Maybe April!
