I put the same 'high flow' cat in lol and my wastegate duty cycle requirement did change so if it's tuned in open loop then put it on the dyno as a minimum. I ended up putting the cat back in as it helped control boost. I just put it out every few months and check it out.

Yeah got into it today a couple of times and had one massive backfire. Might be over boosting but then again, plugs are just copper v-groove and are a bit old as well as the coil packs which have seen over 6 months so might be time for some fresh ones. I'm keeping off it anyway until I do get it looked at.

I heard XForce changed their CAT design at some point to remedy this issue. Apparently the substrate was in it's own case then that case was welded to the CAT body? My system is over 2 years old so probably an older one.

Same thing happened to my old car, but it stayed inside the cat. It was only a fluke that we found it when we unbolted it to try and get it to stop banging underneith. Cheap Chinese sh*t those things

Seems like a regular occurrence. Have to say, the rest of the system is still in good shape. Week link seems to be the CAT and fitment.

I can add myself to the overgrowing list!

Couple of weeks ago I got a huge rattle/drone from my system which we found was the internals of the cat were not fixed tight, lucky mine wasn't to the point it broke it and blew it out the arse end.. lol

I replaced it with another Xforce (the first one lasted me 3yrs) and this one looks of higher quality and also flows more.

One of the Hurricane cats I supplied through my group buy did this, so its not totally uncommon - this particular one was installed a year after the group buy, not that that should make a major difference though. The one on my car is still going well from what I can see

The tune will affect a cats life also, so it's hard to compare apples with apples. Also if you gut or simply change to a higher flowing cat then get the tune checked asap or you're asking for trouble. If the tune uses closed loop boost control then it's not so bad but for those with tunes using an open loop strategy (90% of you) then for heaven's sake stay off boost!
