Im just about to turn second year plumber/ gas fitter an earn just 300 a week. so don't think your hard done by with 700. I would live like a king on that kind of money haha. Its all about the bigger picture I spose, but atm I can hardly afford to put fuel in the torn.

I'm an accountant too (Chartered Accountant) in the 1400-1500 category I think (car is salary packaged)

27 years old - and (until this GFC crap started) I had every chance of being in the 2k+ category within probably 3-4 years.

Pay rises will be in line with CPI this year I suspect - hopefully NIL rather than negative!

Its very easy to earn over $3000 per week after tax working in WA in the mine fields, but you have no life and have to live in mining site houses, which are sh*te!!

I got offered work in Dubai for 250-300k a year doing similar work to what I am doing now, but I have 2 many other commitments in Aus.
