I couldn't do that... I'm waaaaay too vindictive for that. :Welcome2FordXR6t:

Ford gave me the sh*ts when they fobbed me off when they said its appropriate paint quality for their $73,000 flagship. You can see for yourself in the pics.

So a couple of chats, one minor argument and one sook to for CRC saw them approving a respray of all plastics.

Cost Ford $3376. Hopefully a lesson for them in doing it properly in the future.

Mine is no where near that bad... I would kicked and screamed too if it looked like that. Only in full bright sun and up close do you see a small difference in colour of mine. I was told all the scientific reasons why paint on plastic will never look like the paint on sheet metal, so I got over it.

So how does yours look now? Does it match perfectly?

Mines a 95% match now and I'm happy.

It's now all Ego coloured and the plastics are a touch darker than the body... Which I think is fine given the plastic/metal and newer paint thing. There's no getting away from that. The plastics never matched unless the car was in pitch black, anything else you can tell.

What gets me is that if a painter can achieve that with basic level of care, etc, etc, that the manufacturer can't do the same.

What really got me the most is an hour after I picked up the car I went to see a mate and he goes "wow, I never realised they made these in 2 tone"... Asshole!

When it got done all the people at work asked what I'd done as the car looked heaps better and darker overall.

I heard that ford paint the plastics in a different section using a differnt batch of paint. Some mis-matching is going to occur. Also, the way they apply it to the sheet metal is differnt to the way plastics are sprayed. Its not only Ford either, I've seen plenty of other brands with the same issue.

Can I ask why you purchased/accepted the car if it was so obvious? I sat in a Force6 the other day... beautiful car man, I reckon the best of the B series.

Yep, I understand how the paint is applied differently to the surfaces and where they are painted. And there are occasions where they even use different brands of paint. I know both PPG and DuPont supply paints to Venture Plastics.

The guy who did my car said it was one of the worst he'd ever seen and believed they didnt apply a decent amount of undercoat to the plastics or enough enough top coats to cover the colour of the plastics they use.

I didn't buy it new. I'm way too poor for that. I bought it at a substantial discount with 11,000km on the clock from the original owner. I knew it was a bit multicoloured when I bought it, admittedly not how bad it really was cos of the different lights I saw it in when I test drove it. But then I always thought it was something I could fix via Ford. Just didn't realise how much fun it would be to get it done.

But now that it has been done, it was worth it.
