My previous black BMW E90 325i 6-speed zf auto was approaching 80,000kms so it was time for an upgrade to something abit bigger to accomodate a growing 4-year old boy as well.

I checked out quite a few other cars in the medium to large category; 5 series, e class, honda euro, mazda6, liberty gt, Late model camira Bogan special , calais v v8 and v6. They are all nice cars especially the german ones of course.

But in my opinion (after 4000kms), the G6ET offers the best ride, handling, performance, looks, space, features and value in the current car market. And amazingly the fuel economy gauge displays "13.5"ltr/100kms! And that's in peak traffic around town and with a heavy right foot at times. To put it in perspective, my previous 325i with the 2.5 ltr inline 6 cyl engine (rated at 160 kw/250 nm) and the 6-speed zf auto was averaging "12.8"ltr/100kms under the same driving conditions but nowhere near the performance!

I'm sure it'll be said by someone if not me...

:roflmbo:

Let us know when you get your first speeding fine...

After 8 years driving, averaging about 25 klicks a year over that time and a clean record... took me 6 weeks in the G6ET!

Hey thorxr6t,

Great to see mate, I fell off the fence in similar fashion when I bought my Ba Mk1 XR6T which I still have. Just wait until you start to mod! And you will haha. Though I've got a mate with a BMW 135i, very nice machine that, can't fault it. But for the bucks, Ford still make a top factory performance package and there's so much in the way of after market mods and advice such as through this site. Enjoy! Cheers.

I have also just purchased my first Ford - Black G6ET with the 19" Mullins Vanquish rims. Gets delivered in 3 weeks and can't wait!

Also agree with comments from thorxrt6 - is a great package. I fell over the fence after driving Holdens for the last 10 years - HSV's, SS's and recently the Calais V.

Looking forward to learning a bit more about the mods available for the engine.

I own a Typhoon and its also my first Ford. I actually don't like fords that much but to be behind the wheel of 4.0litre turbo everday car is a great feeling. Knowing the power is there when you squeeze the throttle. I also don't like Expensive Daewoo either so I'm not part of that Ford vs Expensive Daewoo battle. I am actually a Rotary freak so please be gentle with me.....LOL!!!
