Hey guys. Title says it all, I'm after some top quality 5 x 7's for my 04 xr6t. I wanna try and stick with the 5x7 if I can so its a straight swap over. I have a D class 800watt 4 chan fusion amp so I will have enough power. Just want some speakers that can handle some bass (most will be going to the sub) but am really after some top notch clarity that can handle it being turned up real loud :P.

Anyone got any ideas as to what speakers I should be looking at?

Cheers, Daniel

Well if you want top quality we assume price isnt an issue? Do you have Premo sound?

I've installed into BA/BFs a lot of Alpine 7x5s. I wouldn't bother looking at your Clarions,Kenwoods etc.

You could also look at Eclipse (a bit flat sounding) or some of the 'American' companies JL, Kicker so on.

You really need to go out with your own music and audition speakers in your price range, remembering that what they sound like in the demo board isn't what they will sound like in your car.

Class D amps are generally mono amps and freq response are only up to maybe 350hz or there abouts so not suitable for highs and mids only subs!

Have you got the specs or model number of the amp for us to have a look?

I have seen at Beenleigh Autobarn

7x5 Hertz componant set up.

sounded pretty good in the demo board.

By memory not to dear.

I have gone with a set of clarion 6.5 componants, yet to be fitted so better be good.

Sounded orsm in Clarion reps vehicle.

Depending on the amp, maybe get urself a new one... :stickpoke:

and while your at it - scratch a scratchy, win 25K and go get a set of Focal B's! 3 way!

Ull drool, bar up, forget women exist as they stand at traffic lights over work at 5.30 looking all sexy, and you'll fall in love with 3 (6) little round things!

Or check out Morel as well...

If you dont win - arrr fark it, you only spent 2$ - go check out Pioneer, Clarion in entry level, and head up from there...

No matter what ANYONE SAYS - I DONT GIVE A sh*t, GIVE THE BEST ADVISE IN THE WORLD BUT IN THE END - remember its your ears that needs to pick speakers, not your eyes, or wallet!

I agree with smicky, let your ears do the deciding as I love my MB Quarts but the tweeters are to harsh for my ears now so enjoy the sound of a good soft dome from JL Audio and the speakers were only around $300.

Ok, mate if that's correct, then you will be looking for a set of speakers that are around 50w RMS 4 ohms!

So the price your looking out should be about right...

Give Pioneer, Clarion, Boston, Alpine etc... most of the higher end speakers such as MB, Morel, Focal, etc will require a bigger amp, if your planning on driving them harder...

Keep in mind, that when I refer to running the hard, I mean tone settings, you can get urslef a set of 4,500$ Focals, and run them from that amp OK, however they just wont sound as good as they should!

:roflmbo:
