I'm unsure when any specific engine changes (internals) occurred in the models but as for release dates Glass's Guide says the following:

BA 09/2002 - 09/2004

BA2 10/2004 - 09/2005

BF 10/2005 - 09/2006

BF2 10/2006 - 60/2007

BF2 upgrade 07/2007 - 04/2008

FG 05/2008 ~

In regard to auctions, can you test drive before auction? And can you get an independent inspection? Or do they road test & do a proper written inspection before sale? Do they supply with RWC or is it up to the buyer?

Understand that its a bit of a risk if these can't be done, as how do you know what your buying?

In the same boat as you jasol, trying to find a BF mk2 T auto.

no test drives first. they will do a test and inspection report but you need to look at it in person and read up on how to spot something that's had an accident. Look at how panels line up etc..

Look at this one:in nsw (not a T)

That gives you a link to the condition report and estimates what needs to be done. If it has warranty then mechanically you should be covered but your main concern is looking for exterior work or an accident history. You should also find out who owned it, if its a chaser I wouldnt pay as much due to the possibility of a harder life but there are some good ones. Theres also signs if it was a chaser like the dash holes on the passenger side of the dash and marks above the doors if it was a marked car, these dont get fixed before auction so you'll want to budget some repairs in to make it tidy.

Got my bf2 ex chaser (first registered dec07) for 22k with 20s on it, only holes in interior are on console and next to drivers seat and is missing the clock (who cares guages will go there anyway) had 60ks and serviced every 7ks on it when I bought it and am up to 80 with no issues.

In all honesty its a tighter car than my baxr8 when I got rid of it at 50ks and way better than the au2xr8 I ditched at 100k. I figured for me I do 50ks at least a year and drive harder than any cop would so couldnt justify spending extra to get a low k private sale when im gonna rack up the ks so quick.

Im happy with my ex chaser, the cash I saved has gone towards mods I was worried at first but am super impressed and have had it checked over by my mechanic and a few ford dealers and found nothing wrong bar the diff bush needed replacing.
