Assuming I get past all the qualification processes...1) seeing its not a frontline soldier position that im applying for, how fit do they expect you to be? what sort of preparation should I make?2) after finishing the training what opportunities do you get to see your family/friends? do you get extended breaks to travel?3) is it a good lifestyle? do you enjoy your job?4) any tips for getting through the testing process?im just at a point in my life now where im sick of the job im doing, dont see a future working there and want to do something with the qualifications ive got from tafe. Ive also gotten lazy and unfit from working in call centres so I want something that will get me back in shape.Mike

Assuming I get past all the qualification processes...1) seeing its not a frontline soldier position that im applying for, how fit do they expect you to be? what sort of preparation should I make?Army recruiting will give you the fitness level you need to be at for testing before arriving at Kapooka (being ex sub unit PI its bloody low). Kapooka will see you have to increase that level before marching out, and after IET you will have to reach the Armty standard. Mate my advice is ring recruiting get the three fitness levels and get at least one level ahead than were you need to be kapooka is hard enough without having to struggle with fitness.2) after finishing the training what opportunities do you get to see your family/friends? do you get extended breaks to travel? The Army is a governemnt agency and leave and travel is fantastic, but the first 18 mounths is hetic and your trade is a long IET. There will only be samll breaks I would suggest in the first 18 mounths. 3) is it a good lifestyle? do you enjoy your job?Loved it, and operational deployments are fantastic. I can no longer deploy due to hearing difficulties, therefore no longer operational deployment eligible , hence I left.4) any tips for getting through the testing process?Be honest and dont try to BS them, stay off the drugs, the Army will accept people that have taken drugs, but if you have done so in the last twelve mounths no way will you get in.im just at a point in my life now where im sick of the job im doing, dont see a future working there and want to do something with the qualifications ive got from tafe. Ive also gotten lazy and unfit from working in call centres so I want something that will get me back in shape.Get in shape before hand, its hard enough without playing catch up in this area.Mike
