there appears to be an issue with upgrading brakes on the FG which I havent solved yet

I`ve swapped my brembo 4 pots to 6 pots on my ute (which I had done on a bf with no probs) and all was good for a month or two but I am now experiencing very seldomly a massive shudder through the car. Initally thought it was my ZF, but after the 6th time it did it, it came with abs fault on the dash, which disappeared once I came to a stop. having spoken to tocchi over the weekend he appears to be experiencing the same issue with his 6/4 upgrade. so my thoughts are it might be a calibration issue with the ESC or whatever its called.

I`ve just called ford and told them that I`d swapped brakes over, he told me that there is a bigger master cylinder swap when upgrading to the 6 pots (might explain the massive $$$ ford want if you chose it as a factory option) which I find hard to believe but his is investigating further for me and I will update this when I hear back from him.

Tiny,

What is the pedal travel like after installing the Brembo's with the standard master cylinder?

You would definatly need the larger volume master cylinder when upgrading to the brembo's. IIRC master cylinders are only around $240 tho

He already had brembo's (4pot) as it's an F6 Luke. Master cylinder's are the same between the two kits on BF's & I would have guessed the same thing on FG's??

Ross, I'm allowed to go to the yard & take my 4 pots off if I pay the towie $60 + GST

Weird you talk about the shudder.

I had the 6/4 option on my Typhoon, so I was keen to get the same on my new car.

The GT-E comes standard with these brakes and I am also getting a really bad shudder occasionally.

It seems to only happen under very light braking and the shudder is enough to knock a filling out.

The problem is fixed by braking harder, but it is not acceptable as sometimes light braking is required.

It feels like the pads need an antivibration clip or some pad goo to stop the problem. I was going to take it up at the 3,000km service to see if there is a problem.

that's rubbish, the MC is the same. If there was a problem with the ESC it would have been evident straight away, it wouldnt have taken a month to occour. I fitted a set of 6/4's to a mates F6 ute and he has done 45,oookm's without issue and has done a few track days with them fitted aswell.
