Is there anything else that is worth replacing while the comp wheel is out? The turbo has 80 000km on it. Might be worth upgrading the Actuator? Ricky N Member 93 Member For: 16y 1m 23d Gender: Male Location: QLD Posted 15/06/09 04:39 AM Share Posted 15/06/09 04:39 AM You can't just put another compressor wheel on there. It will need to be torqued down and straitened and VSR balanced at the very least. Most places will not VSR balance the turbo unless it has a new bearing pack put into it.The other thing is unless something has been sucked through it is probably the turbine head has drooped and cursed the turbo to be out of balance. The unbalanced harmonics would have caused the comp wheel to grab the cover and bend the blade. You may get very lucky and it only needs a comp wheel and balance but more than likely you are going to need a new Compressor wheel, bearing pack and turbine. The comp housing may need to be clened up as well.A turbo shop it going to have to do the repair of the actual turbo. If the turbo needs a new turbine try to get an Inconel turbine. This will help prevent future turbine head droop and fatigue that leads to turbo failure. If Garrett doesn’t have them (As they are pretty rare) and you’re local turbo shop is unsure where they can get an Inconel Turbine for a GT35R. MTA (AKA: MR Turbo Australia) has replacement 713c Inconel GT35R turbines. If your Your local turbo shop cann't find one they will be able to get the part from them. The standard Garrett GT35R’s have a GMR turbine.
