Have you check the spark plugs for metallic flakes

millers Member 113 Member For: 16y 7m 6d Posted 03/03/09 08:42 AM Share Posted 03/03/09 08:42 AM I have heard this ticking noise and as far as I can tell it seems to be coming from the head around the back on the intake side.the ticking gets faster with higher RPM and neo thinks it might get a little quieter when when the engine is warmed up (didnt leave it running too long when I was there... its broken enough as it it )havent dropped the oil out of it, but what is left in the head (and all over me after playing) the oil seems pretty clean. not sure how old the oil is though. neo?spark plugs came out last night and dont look too badI cant think of a way to describe the noise. to me its half way between a ticking and a knocking. its definately coming from towards the back of the engine though

millers Member 113 Member For: 16y 7m 6d Posted 03/03/09 09:22 AM Share Posted 03/03/09 09:22 AM also another question with the swapping...as far as I know the BA ecu is not gunna be able to run the BF/BFII engine due to the varible cam timing in the later engines.if the ecu is swapped to one that will run the engine I understand the ICC will have to be reprogramed by Ford? also will doing this change the VIN and cause an xcal2 to stop working? I am working with limited money at the moment I could save up but id rather a quick fix so I can at least drive it instead of the misses fesita. then build my old one up. millers Member 113 Member For: 16y 7m 6d Posted 03/03/09 10:37 AM Share Posted 03/03/09 10:37 AM haha you reading this neo? as far as I know his thinking is that it will cost $xxx just to get a mechanic to find out whats wrong with it and that doesnt guarantee a fix, but he can get a new engine for $1500ish and have it installed for a carton + other small misc stuff needed for it.
