They are equally good cars in their own ways as our turbo 6's are. Each vehicle has its own differences that make them fantastic cars and thank Christ we have the options of choosing between these great Aussie cars.don't forget the VE's are brilliant bang for your but for mods too with an exhaust, OTR and tune giving 270 rwkw and mid to high 12 second passes, great economy and beautiful sound. The VE's also handle great.Don't get me wrong, I'm not a great lover of VE's otherwise I would be driving one instead of my G6ET (which is fricken AWESOME! LOL) I just think a bit of reality is needed when people start to get a bit excited about how their 300 ish rwkw XR6 will annihilate anything blah blah blah. Mod for mod the turbo 6's may get better rwkw readings but how many actually show results at the strip/ I think not as many as the General side of the fence could boast.Oh yeh but I love my FORD, so dont flame me all you one eyed turbo 6 fans. And with the coyote coming the boys in red will be seeing just that, the red from the brake lights as you slow down after yet another epic win...Start modding and it's a different story, everyone claims to have done less than they actualy have...Ohh yeah just cam only.... They don't mention the diff gears headwork hi stall has been done lol
Wingnut Member 573 Member For: 16y 5m 26d Gender: Male Posted 18/06/10 11:07 AM Share Posted 18/06/10 11:07 AM (edited) I have owned both. VE Bogan special ute and now FG T ute for around the same amount of time 14,000kms... The Expensive Daewoo was a manual and the Ford has a ZF. The ford is obviously much "easier" to drive but I do prefer driving the Holden. I have also owned a turbo with a T56 and if you youre comparing apples with apples the Expensive Daewoo still came ahead for me.I sold the Expensive Daewoo because I bascially wanted I nice quick car that can be modded fairly cheaply and not lose any drivabilty. I must say my FG ticks all the boxes. But almost 8 months on with over 300 rwkw, I must say im a little sad I sold my VE. Over all I felt it was and is a much better car. The handling, build quality (even though it did have a couple of warranty issues) the power delivery, the styling, the ongoing customer service and support. Not once has my dealer called me to see how my car is going. Expensive Daewoo were on the phone to me every couple of months. It was just little things I guess that I felt made a big difference. The shell being 1 piece and not having a massive gap where the body meets the tub. The way the hinges for the tailgate are hidden and not exposed like on the FG. IRS!!! I f*ckin hate the way the ass of my UTE bounces around... The hood latch!! Basically self closing and doesnt require force like with the FG. Dont get me wrong I love my T... I mean I f*cking loooove it, the thing will turn the tyres at 100kms going down the Eastern Fwy, but I guess im a little over that. I would rather have a nice all round car than something that goes really fast in a straight line. Anyway, ill most certainly keep the FG until the next model comes out and go from there but from my own experience if I had to do it again I would most certainly get another VE :( sorry to say.
