There has been oil coming out the back of my power steering pump for years now and it started getting worse. I dont think its the fitting on the hose because that seems dry and the oil level for the power steering is always full. I think its the seal for the pulley. Has anyone changed the seal for this pulley as Im pretty sure its motor oil leaking.

If the fluid leven in the power steering is staying at the same level then it sound like its coming from somewhere else

My power steering pump was always bleeding out and covered in crap. I changed the cap/seal/dipstick assembly and the leak is now going. It dribbles down the filler neck and under the drip tray then runs down the body of the pump.

$36 for a new cap/seal/dipstick assy.

It won't be engine oil on your power steering reservoir. Ther is no wet link between the engine and the power steering system.

If you think it is engine oil it could be either the front of the sump gasket or the timing cover and getting blown up the front of the block to the reservoir by the fans.

its definately your pump, if you monitor it closely you will see the level dropping bit by bit. mines been doin it 4 ages now. you can buy oil that stops the leak a bit though.

If your cap is leaking, it will dribble down under the spill tray and run down the front of the pump. Remove the cap and spill tray and see if the top of the pump is wet and there is a trail down the front body of the pump.........

Thanks guys for helping. I have checked the cap and there is no leak from there. I am pretty sure its not power steering fluid as it has been the same level since I bought the car 5 years ago.
