I was seriously looking at a 4 door R33GTR and only 442 were ever made, yet I can get one for $20k.

slightly OT but are you sure about a R33 GTR that is 4 doors. Never heard of 1 and have definitely never seen 1. Are you sure it wasnt a GTS-T 4 door which is common.

ESP whats an esp, don't even have a special code on there tags.A esp and a fairmont ghia have the same code on there tags so hopefully ford has a record because no one else has.You can't buy anything for them a lemon stay away no one want's them better off with an replica xy.Cheers Nick

ESP was the last of the big bangers xD or XE 351 4 speed manual with spoets trim and more wings than a stealth bomber on it, they had gold wheels and two tone paint, there is anice Red/Silver one that lurks around Perth.

The R Specs have as much chance of being a collectable as does an ordinary Phoon which isn't that great. IMHO and until Ford produce a road car that can also win at Bathurst, which is never going to happen as V8 Super cars are nothing like their road going cousins, there will never be another Phase 111. It doesn't matter what you buy these days within a year or two you will tear up big time, and if the Greenies and environmentalist twits get their way we will all be driving around in things powered by Ever Ready Batteries before too long OI!

As for the W427 :roflmbo: even a modded T will :bopp:

I know 2 car collectors who bought the W427 they own phase 3 and collect cars, for you blokes to laugh at the suggestion show's what you know.I farkin hate holdens but most people in the game at the moment reckon they are going to be big.If this model is the last big block chev Expensive Daewoo made and around 100 odd made ,it has all the hall marks of a collectors car in the future in my eye's ,as for price who nows,If we all knew the future on what make is going to be collectable I'm sure most of us would run out and buy one.As we don't lets wait and see what comes of this.

As for the esp mate let me say it again, the esp is an option on a fairmont ghia,if you put an esp next to a fairmont ghia the model number is the same. It's like getting an s pack falcon option.Unless you have the original sale documents ford has no record of an a original esp(European sports pack) option been there done that .Cheers Nick

Ah I see what you mean, from the description of your first post I thought you didn't know what they were. It's strange they (Ford) have no records seeing they made the bloody things, but there is enough info around about them and on a genuine car the complince plates would have the codes on it to prove it was a fully spec'd Fairmont Ghia, don't know about iits collectibility though.

As for the W427. It may hold some relative value but I don't think it will ever make the realms collectibility of the Phase 111 for a few reasons

It will never win Bathurst

It has had a lot of HSV predecessors

V8s will become less desirable as the economy and the Greenies worldwide brainwash everybody into the fact that V8s are evil things

The Australian market is open to all sorts of exotic imports that make Aussue cars less special in the eyes of the consumer than in the 1970s

And by the ways things look GM may not exist in it's present guise in a couple of years.

For the collectors sakes I'm wrong but common sense says I'm not.

walkinshaw's are climbing in value. but if I had money I would buy a xy gt, doesn't even have to be a HO I just love the look and feel of them. any of the xy range will do it for me.

Recent rare failures are cars like the very limited Subaru 22B STI, this car cost over $100k and only 200 were made, yet I can get one with <10,000km for $80k.

try 425 made and far from a failure. destined to be one of the all time greats. if you can get one with that low kms and for that money, buy it!
