Hey guys quick question,

with a custom tune what is a good safe level for the stock 5sp in a BA??

I was hoping to run around 320 rwkw or so, is that pushing it or should I keep it lower than that I.e 260??

It's the torque that kills boxes, not power.

At 320rwkw you'd expect to be making upward of 700nm which is way too much for the T5. I think they're only rated at ~450nm...

anything over 300rwkw/700nm will lunch it... but as 03XR6T said it the torque that kills drivetrains...

to be on the safe side, anything over 260rwkw/600nm will be a ticking timebomb...

The only safe rwkw for a T5 is a NA or detunes Turbo.

They will lunch themselves on stock power if driven hard.

You must slip that clutch really bad to have it dead at that power :bliss:

AP Racing clutches are arguably the best on the market for our cars... They hold 400+rwkw with ease, drive like a stocker (or better) & handle light slipping applications. You either had a faulty one or rode it like an old lady!

Blakxr6t, T56 conversion would be the best idea if you've only just bought your BA &/or if you plan keeping it for a while to get your money's worth. If you can get one for sub $5k installed, you can always keep your T5 handy so when it comes time to sell/trade you can put it back in & sell the T56 conversion for not much less than you paid
