I think they pricing is comparble with Expensive Daewoo although IMO the Ford standard features out class the VY exec, and the car is much better value for money than the "equivalent" (if there is realy such a thing  )Magna or Camry. I think the extras on the Futura and the XR are exceptional value compared to the XT. The Turbo is IMO the top of the tree for value for money/bang for buck! The XR8 will have to be exceptional to justify the premium in price - IIRC about $7k :pinch:

Just for a laugh I got onto the Toyota website and optioned up a Sportivo, fully optioned it topped 50K....now that's getting out of hand!

Yeah I agree. The option list is where people can make the Xr range compete with various Expensive Daewoo Models. The prices for the options let alone the standard equipment of the cars seem a huge step in the right direction compared to where AU started.

I Think the XR8 needs different wheels to the rest of the range but that is my only observation

I will reserve my opinion on the best value untill the full specs of the GT are known

Another b**ch,

There should be no such thing as a premium brake package option on the XR's. Serious weapons like these should be given all the stopping power available and should be standard.

Be interesting to see the difference in specs between the GT and GTP to see if this has been carried across.

Yeah I have to agree with the brakes as well. Have to add the cost of the wheels into the equation as well.

I guess you could be looking at aftermarket for wheels brakes and leather if you were on a budget. Fact remains that it is easier to up spec the XR range than it is for the HSV range or SS to be down spec'd to a budget

I optioned everything on my xr6t. Premium brakes, sunroof, leather, 18in wheels, sports steering wheel, sunroof, premium sound, alarm, left out the door airbags but added scruff plates, mudguard, sump guard, matting, - the dealer said he has never fitted a car this full before and it shows. $58k on the road. Thank goodness for leasing and tax deductions.

On the subject of interiors. I'm looking at $56000 for xr8 onthe road with p/sound,side luv bags, rear parking sensors.

The car is fantastic, the dash layout consol and all controls excellant, but one thing I did notice was the quality of the carpet the lack of plush velour on the doors and the hard plastic plates on the back of the front seats look cheap.

Now I'm only comparing to past xr models el and au series. My el2 has whats looks like a loop type carpet which is also on the doors. Most of the au series I have seen have plush velour on the doors skins and the seat backs are finished with the same upholstery as the rest of the seat.

Now this is only a minor gripe and not really that, just something I've noticed.

Has anyone else noticed the same thing since upgrading from the older models?

Also my wife pointed out that for the 56grand that we will spend on the xr8 we could have a 220kw v8 fairmont ghia with all the trimmings.

Made me think twice, but only for a second

I actually thought the plastic on the backs of the front seats was good thing as we have young kids who are always scuffing up & dirtying the backs of the seats. It would have been cheaper for Ford to continue the cloth over all of the back of the seat than using these inserts l think.

Again l like the doors without the carpet bit on the bottom, all it does is get dirty. The quality of plastic and grain on the doors is superior to the earlier cars and looks good l think. Easy to keep the car clean.

When do you expect your XR8, we need some owners comments :P

l know what your wife means about the Fairmont Ghia, it is one very classy car, its a hard choice. Maybe the Ghia with an aftermarket exhaust would be a good compromise, performance difference then wouldnt be that great, and it has a beautiful interior. Cheaper insurance too.
