Hi All,

I recently replaced the discs on the front of my F6 with DBA 5000 slotted and new pads. I am very dissapointed with the performance. Significantly down on the standard with limited brake feel and significantly less stopping power. The brake shop reckons the pads are sh*t. The supplier of the discs and pads reckons heaps of people run these pads without any problems and if they are performing badly it is likely they were not bedded in correctly. I have never had an issue with pads before on a string of performance vehicles so I am at a loss as to what the go is. Long story short I will replace the pads with new ones that perform better.

It is a daily driver and is not race driven but will have 300+ rwKW soon and I like the thing to stop when I ask it to.

What do you recommend?

Jimmy

May I ask what are the pads you are talking about?

Sometimes pads on large brakes can take a few k's to bed in. How many k' have you done with these?

yer im interested to see how you go with this,

I have the stardard dba rotors and pads on my F6 and when playing for 5 minutes I can get the pads blowing smoke over the bonnet... wtf.

The braking distance and response has alot to do with the disc density too guys, not just pads. The stock Brembo Discs are fairly soft (considering the climate we have) and heat up quickly. DBA5000s are more resiliant to heat so they take a bit more effort to bring up to operating temperature.

If the pads are very soft then they will come up to temp before the discs - wearing out the pads far quicker. You have to remember that the 5000 rotor is competition spec, so you need to give the pedal a couple of jabs while you are still accelerating for it to heat up

If you want a pad that bites, try the PBR Performance pads. They are aggressive and they work. Not too bad on the dust either.

I am not sure of the brand the receipt does not mention it. The shop tells me they are Gasport or something similar. But not having fit them myself I cannot tell you any more.

I have done 2000klms on them now, I would imagine they should be bedded in.

I have also really noticed you can feel the slots in the disc with really light pedal pressure which is an odd sensation to say the least.

I might phone DBA and ask for their suggestion of a pad to mix with the discs.

You will probably find the pad are EBC red/green stuff, I'm running the DBA gold and found them quite ordinary but then they are half the price of replacement Brembo's.

They also make a whirring sound whilst driving which is annoying as hell!

Nazgul,

I'm running DBA 5000 (front) 4000s (back) on my F6.

This is the second round of RB74 pads and I have found them to be extremely good. (first set went in 25K of hard braking).

The pad has very little noise, great pedal feel when cold and no fade at all (track days or hard street braking) .

They are fairly cheap approx $240 front and $160 back. If you live in Melb, Syd or WA talk to Race Brakes they do an excellent job.

Race Brakes tell me that the although the RB74's are a harsh pad the DBA's will last at least 65,000km before you need to replace the rotors.

Pete
