Disaster Struck

2 weeks before Christmas when we had rain disaster struck. I was sitting behind a truck and I could not see that the road ahead was flooded until it was too late. The water was up to my bonnet. Next thing I know there was a big bang, and the engine stopped. I took the car to Carerra in North Melbourne and they pulled the engine out and sent it off to Engine Action. These guys are great. They pulled the engine down and replaced the 6 pistons, 1 conrod, 4 valves, crank bearing and a few other things. They also did a bit of machining in the valve seats to improve the flow. I had Carerra replace the clutch and flywheel. They installed the Exedy Cushion Button Clutch. (takes a bit of getting use to.)

I highly recommend Engine Action in Flemington for any engine work you want done or even just a service which they are very reasonably priced.

I have had the car back now for 4 days and it has never run so well before. There is no bottom end knocking, tapping or vibration, it just idles.

nearly happened to me tonight just 10 mins ago..

was driving home from work along Paradise Rd. Acacia Ridge (Brisbane) if anyone knows it, which is notorious for flooding... got through one deepish part maybe 30cm deep, but came to another which the indicator said was about 50 or 60cm I didnt wanna go through that part AT ALL so turned back and went back through the not-so-deep section and had to go the super long way Beaudesert Rd. home. No water seems to be in the car, no odd noises so pretty sure its ok, wouldve been a different story had I gone through the second deep puddle though, after all the car is running on SSL's
