I doubt I'd ever drag race it

its just at the moment in my VT I have a 4L60E, and it has some pretty chronic gear holes at around 60-70, if you really want to move at those type of rev's your stuck going no were, nothing some new diff gears wouldn't fix, but they are pretty unnecessary when you're trying to do a street car

the thing is ZF 6 speeds are still well above 20 grand. Alot of the the BA 4 speeds are high teens, which is alot for their age.

Best you wait then.....theyre be dropping in price as time goes by, and youd prob save on a rebuilt 4 speed as theyre kms are getting up there.

So youll be saving in the long run.

6-speed auto is a generation ahead of the 4-speed.

Much stronger (supporting 400rwkw without problems), 4-speed more likely to cost you more if you want more power.

6-speed has better spread of gears, first is lower for easier driving in heavy traffic, more economical at freeway speeds,

Overall gearing in 4th in 4-speed is almost the same as 5th in the 6-speed, and 6th is 26% taller for better cruise economy.

I find 6-speed better when driving in manual mode (as I do), to get the ratio closest to what I want.

my 6spd stock with about 2000 on the clock & me never racing before managed a 14.01 & my mate with 10psi flash tune at the time with the 4spd was I think 14.1. He'd had it for a while as well. On the street though it was chalk & cheese I would leave him standing. The 6spd is alot smoother & like others have said can take a beating. ive got 30000klm on the clock now with just short of 400rwkw & it hasnt missed a beat.

Save your money & do it right the first time I recon.

your mate can't drive lol

I would actually like to see some 1/4 times of both 4 an 6spd same power

yeh yeh the 6spd is nice on the road ,not what I want to know though ,

JP300 what box is he running it's not a 6spd and that car has done 11.1-- on street tyres with under 400rwkw so that makes it faster than the time of your 6spd going by the time you have in your sig

not starting sh*t think it would be good to see some true comparasin

us 4spd boys need something

Unless its exactly the same car tested with a gearbox change between the 4sp and 6sp, there are probably too many variables.

Its ok to get 2 cars with the same power, but they would have to be tuned exactly the same, same tyres, same suspension, same boost off the line, exact same mods etc... Well, pretty much exact same everything bar the gearbox!

mph v time is a fair indicator I think :idunno:

4 speeds are going to be faster at this point in time due to having high stalls available. When the zf has a big stall I think it will chop 4 speed times.

JP has a tad more power than me our06t :idunno:
