Got quoted $520 for a Bridgestone RE-001R 245/45/R19 yesterday, compare to anyone?

Russ

Russ, the RE-01R's are 89Y. Their weight rating is to low for our cars.

Can some one tell me what is the widest tyre that we can fit to the standard 19" rim?

Can I squeeze 265/30/19 on the rear?

If so the toyo R888 will do the trick.

Rapid what did you fit before you pumped the guards?

Some may have missed a thread I started (heaps of interest - not) but there is a new Toyo street legal drag radial in the US called the Proxes TQ. Check it out here: http://www.toyo.com/docs/tires/tires.asp?l...p;category=comp

I get my tyres from Ray at Tyrepower in Reservoir here in Vic who is the man when is comes to the 888's. If the TQ is to be released here, Ray should be the Vic distributor. He is looking in to it. Ray runs the 888 on his race car and loves them.

Problem is they are only available upto 18".

I may be getting the 265/30/R888's for my next tyre I think.

I may have missed something but the r888 only come in 235,295,305 for 19", well that's what the website says anyway

265's will squeeze onto a 8" rim but they wont handle or grip the way they are designed to...

235 up front & 295 on rear. Just buy 10" rears :idunno:

235 is too narrow for such a heavy car... be "ok" for street use, but you dont put semi slicks on the front unless your pushing dam hard... it'll under steer into corners hard.

Ive got 265/30 on my fronts, they are 8.5inch wide though, and are pulled in a touch so I wouldnt put that size on a narrower 8inch rim... 245 is pretty much spot on for keeping a stiff sidewall.

Having said that, the 265s on my front do give the front very good grip, but push too hard mid corner and they loose grip... and with the huge grip from the rea semi's, she turns into a snow plough lol... you do have to push hard though, like scarey hard through corners, which is fine on a circuit, but on road with trees and crap ready to pop out...

Didnt even really consider them john but if your getting the results out of them down the track then I might consider them as a daily street tyre. Why do you think they work so well down the track because by the pic & description of the m they look like a average tyre? Very impressed how they have performed on your car.

I have seen Brians car put 510 odd rwkw on the rollers with these tyres hence I guessed they were not too bad. When you read the specs then you get a better idea of why they work.

When I bought the 19" FPV copies I thought I would try them as a cheap alternative... They have performed quite well and as I have stated many times... They have produced some decent numbers down the quarter.

Has anyone else run a low 11 sec pass on a 19" $200 tyre? Think about it ... They can be that bad... eh?
