Yes, I've been modding cars for over 20 years and I've spent a packet but I'm new to the performance Falcon range and was just hoping to get some advice from those with more knowledge of this particular range. I'm almost sorry I asked.

For those that have given some constructive advice, thanks.

I have decided to miss the BF Phhon/R-Spec upgrade and go straight for the FG F6 which was the initial plan. Just a matter now of when I make the transistion.

It certainly opened up debate - and you will always get opinions at every end of the spectrum.

But it sounds like you're making the right move at this stage - the FG F6 is a superior car in every way.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. :3gears:

The only ppl who think they are thpecial are the owners... :3gears:

or those that own holdens v8's, I would say 1 of 300 is "thpecial" :werd:

BA-XR6T's were done at the FPV factory, side by side with the FPV series. :cool1:

A 'Ford Factory' XR6T, certainly in the BA XR6T series, is exceedingly likely to have exactly the same engineering and FPV final assembly pedigree as an FPV of the period.

I am sure that people on this forum can provide more granular data about the migration of XR6T production from FPV to Ford. I understand that this was a staged process.

Regards,

aa

a t is still a t unless it has a fpv in front

1. Collectability - Nope, they sell for the same as a normal Typhoon and will most likely sell for the same as a Typhoon in 20 years time.

2. Leather seats - this is an option on all Falcons

STANDARD IN A R-SPEC

3. Ipod connection - $60 option

STANDARD IN A R-SPEC

4. R-spec 19" rims (Dark Argent/gunmetal accent) - No different to the optional dark argents on the Typhoon

STANDARD IN A R-SPEC

5. R-spec suspension (J.Bowe claims 3 seconds a lap quicker around Winton using the R-spec suspension over standard suspension in the GT. Not sure how much quicker for the Phoon) - I doubt shock valving would make that much difference. They are the same brand and model shock, spring and antiroll bars as the normal Typhoon, it is only the shock valving that is different.

STANDARD IN A R-SPEC

6. R-spec mats - wow

GET THE MESSAGE

7. Rspec badging (exterior boot badge and interior build plate) - again WOW

ONLT 1 OF 300 HAS THESE

8. Larger higher capacity oil cooler for the autos - Nah mate this is just some BS to make you thing they did something different. All the autos have the same cooler.

AGREE

9. Dark Argent/gunmetal accent on the rear spoiler pillars. - I have never noticed this performance feature.

NOT ALL ABOUT PERFORMANCE THE R-SPEC HAS VISUAL AS WELL

The R-Spec is about as useful as the 40th GT or the Cobra. Just badges and some minor stuff to try to shift the remaining BF's. Their valus for money was not bad considerign they included many "options" as part of the deal, so people who bought them should not feel ripped off, but in turn they should not think they are some ultra rare model that will appreciate more than the rest of the FPV cars.

Have a look at what Cobras are selling for now.

MAYBE YOU COULD BUY A 2ND HAND ONE :nyaah:

You sir, are whack. Those 19's are the best rim Ford Australia have ever had on any car ever...

:stupid:

Hmmm – had to add my 2c

Sure you can pump stacks of power out of either a T or an F6. But if your going to mod anyway – you’ll get better results from the F6 everytime.

What FPV gives you over a standard XR6T, and a generally better finished vehicle overall, for the extra coin – no question WORTH IT.

F6 air box with dual Ram Air intakes

FPV ID Datadot Identification

All that worth an extra $20K? OF Course it is - you do the Math. And these things are NOT all options on an XR6T, they only come from an FPV F6

Then the R-SPEC ....

Now at the time, these cars were bought on road at the same or less than a standard F6 thanks to Fraud’s desperation and rebates so those that think these were 5 or 10k more – your’re a little misguided, and looking at list price is academic. Even now you can buy one for similar price to a std F6.

RSPEC STANDARD inclusions.

FPV Leather Sports seats - Leather and suede-feel bolsters, FPV logo embroidery and F6 silver stitching

TrakPak lowered Performance suspension.

5-spoke 19”x 8” alloy wheels in Thunder Storm Grey with

machined face, fitted with DunlopSP Sport Maxx 245/35ZR19 tyres.

MP3 accessory port,

R-Spec Floor Mats – yes whoopee

R-Spec Limited number build plate

Those Extras for Nothin – Worth it?? Uh yep.

It simply sits and looks better on the road, handles better – without spending an extra cent, and for nothing over a standard F6 - Value??

And the fact theres only 300 built – there will always fewer than the standard F6’s and a sh*teload less than T’s on the road or on Carsales anytime. Everyone who drives one knows this, those who don’t are in denial.

Soooo F6 vs XR6T (with a spend of 20k worth of mods) – No Brainer F6.

And if you want that NOW, go the RSpec, it’s extra value for nothing, but then be prepared to hang on to it.

The only real question here for the chap who started this poll with a million questions is timing – Go for the F6 RSpec now OR wait for some second hand F6 310’s.

IMO I’d go with the latter, your Xr6T will not lose that much more in 6-12 months, you will lose more in changing twice.

Then when you get the FG, tune it, put some Teins on it and you’ll have a rocketship.

It’s just a question of can you wait – no one else can answer that.

Nuff said.

most informed text I have read on this subject..

only 2 for sale across oz on carsales , hummmmm

:stupid:

:spit:

Compared to a T with luxury pack the only tangible difference is the dash background, different pattern on the seat covers and a boost gauge...they are still a taxi underneath!

and you are driving that??????? :bum:

Maybe just get a FG XR6T and grab the quickest car of them all?

And to all those contemplating just taking a normal T and changing the bodykit, etc - you could work for FPV, cause that's exactly what they do!

:roflmbo: x lots

When I was buying the new work ute back in 07, I knew I was going to mod it. I went into the Ford dealer to get a BF2 Tornado, found out the BF2 XRT ute had the same motor and gearbox. The choice was easy after that. Saved 20k on the ute. Spent it on mods. All depends on how much you like the creature features really. I just wanna go fast. My 2 cents.
