Hey all,

I have a ford falcon ba N/A Ute.

Had it converted to gas about 8months ago.

Have recently, in the last 2 months noticed the car has a miss when on gas and when on petrol. But much more oftern on gas. Even at idle and reving steady at 3K.

All the coil packs are sparking as we have takin one by one off slightly with the engine running. The spark plugs were replaced about 40k ago but are iridium an are ment for 100k.

Also 3 of the coil packs have slight hair line cracks on the top casing but am up for any input b4 replacing them as they arn't that bad and shouldn't be reason for replacement.

Throttle body has been semi cleaned while on the car to no help.

Have checked the injection timing of the gas and fuel injectors and are running fine. Am going to have a good hard look at the ford maintance manuel but if any one has had this promblem b4 or heard of it, would appreciate the help.

regards Bill

There's your answer right there. If your coil packs are cracked replace them. If all you did was take them off one by one slightly that won't tell you much as they will still produce a good spark and throw it. You need to disconnect them completely at the top by unplugging them.

I'd be throwing a set of new coils into it and see how it goes.

Yeh im going to replace them with a mates BA coil packs for a test run b4 I go and buy a new set, because the cracks are only hairline and I can't see how this would effect the inductance of the coil pack and cause a misfire.

But we shall see.

I agree - replace the coils. Mine used to miss at high RPM under full load. I bought a new set of cheap ones on ebay - cost about $120 for the whole set! Repcos are about that each I think. Anyway they work great. Do a search on ebay and you should find them.
