Hi all.

As a spin off from built2redline's thread re his recent mishap, I want to get a definitive answer as to whether the BF turbo bottom end is the same as the Typhoon's and therefore has the bigger rods. Also read in the 248kw... thread that the part numbers for the BF turbo and Typhoon are the same.

So who can quash the theorists and answer this one once and for all?

hi guys,I was about to strengthen my bottom end but someone told me that f6 bottom end is good for 350rwkw.is this true, and has anyone with a f6 had there rod bend or shi*# itself? if so at what rwkw did it fail at. im asking this cause I dont wanna spend the money if my bottom end can handle that much power.I am currently running at 330rwkw,running about 17psi of boost tapering down to 12 psi. I havent done actuator yet and f6 valve spring is still holding good.

buddy.....

If you've got 330 rwkw already, you aint going to be satisfied with a measly 20 kW increase.

If you want a real performance hike, then yes, you will need a bottom end rebuild..... but build it to take 450 rwkw.

That will at least justify the $12k required to do it. (don't forget drive line issues!)

Otherwise, I'd say be happy with the power you've got...... maybe fine tune the power curve to get better results for your given passion - be it road warrior, 1/4 mile junkie, or race track star.

370ish seems safe for the F6's.... I personally wouldnt go over 380. again, depends on tuning!

a SAFE tune should be good for 370

id be doing springs and wastegate actuator and holding that boost for longer. you should be able to get more torque this way which will feel alot faster by the pants'o'meter.

I'm running 384rwkw at the moment and will be pushing this closer to 400 in the next few weeks. The tune is the key to everything keeping together. There are a few guys that are running similar power without the mods to the engine and so far so good. Though I've been told not push past 380rwkw by two other tuners but being so close to 400 is just a tease.

Time will tell as the ZF holding up at this power level is again a huge unknown.

I've found from my previous tune of 308rwkw the mid range has had a healthy improvement though the big difference has been the top end response.

The way the speedo moves is gobsmacking. I used to think my cousins 911 turbo was quick.
