waSAPNEN all? This next post will show you how bored I am (currently unemployed)

Changing the thermostat from original '92degC' to a '82degC High Flow' will lower you running temperature... and this is coooool

you will need: 13mm socket + extension arm

Pliers

1lt De-mineralised water

54mm High Flow 82degC (180degF) Thermostat

Rubber Gasket

Beer bottle

Beer

Thermostsat part numbers for TRIDEN TT2000-192 - 89°C High flow

TT2000-190 - 88°C High flow

TT2000-180 - 82°C High flow

TT2000-170 - 77°C High flow

This is the Thermostat I managed to find... MARKIV Automotive DT66A 82degC or 180degF = $29.00

This is the gasket... DAYCO DTG11 Thermostat Gasket = $1.95

Make sure your engine is cool for this!!! This is where the Thermostat is hidden

post-15450-1234253069_thumb.jpg

Now, release the expansion tank cap. Use your pliers to remove the clamp on the overflow hose and remove the hose. You will now know if you have left the engine too hot cause you'll be scoulded!

post-15450-1234253156_thumb.jpg

Put the hose into your empty (clean) beer bottle to catch any overflow

post-15450-1234253226_thumb.jpg

Use the power of gravity to fill your beer bottle... as shown

post-15450-1234253352_thumb.jpg

Remove the 2 bolts holding the jigger onto the whatsit (13mm socket)

post-15450-1234253437_thumb.jpg

Take out the old Thermostat (yes it will come straight out nice and easy). Now before putting in the new one put the gasket on!!!

post-15450-1234253492_thumb.jpg

Put the new one in.

post-15450-1234253637_thumb.jpg

Put the Jigger back onto the whatsit and put the 2 bolts back in... (13mm socket)

post-15450-1234253437_thumb.jpg

Put the hose back onto the expansion tank, and put the clamp back on (with ya pliers)

post-15450-1234253156_thumb.jpg

Now, depending on how much water you lost in the process of this depends on how much you will need to top up in your expansion tank, this is where the

de-mineralised water will come in handy. Don't stress about coolant, its just a top up...

DON'T mix different coolants

DON'T use tap water to top up

DON'T overfill expansion tank

Happy Boostn' :spoton:

Yes, thus keeping it cooler. But if you give it a hard time you will still see the high temps of norm... I just went for a boost hehe :spoton:

But while driving normally, I mean CASUALLY it will run cooler...

Got mine from Repco, just called around until I found one.

I don't think it is the NORM' to stock HIGH FLOW thermostats...

Just tell em' you want a 54mm HIGH FLOW Thermostat 82degC or lower...

Seperate... make sure you tell em, luckily the place I went to stocks them and didn't have to order, they did however order the thermostat.

Called in the morning, had in my hot little hands by lunch. :idunno:
