The rapid and process surge tank are like $1000 but you can buy a surge tank for like $200 and pump for $200 so wouldnt it be cheaper to just get the correct fittings and make a setup yourself for prob $500 all up? is it hard?

The simple answer to your question is yes you can and no its not to hard if you know what you are doing. Not saying I know what I'm doing, I actually paid some one to fit my PW tank.

However the PW and I assume Rapid's tank and made specifically for our cars, so ease of fitment is there.

The surge issue is easily fixed by any surgetank on the market, the issue is fitment, none of the readily available surgetanks will fit these cars so that means building a surgetank to suit is a time consuming job, everyone likes to be paid for the work they do I guess hence the price of certain products.

Hanra did he's own and in the end I don't think cost came out thaat different and would cost way more if you factor time taken to set it up , just the personal satisfaction from doing ya self would be the bonus ,but then again I wouldn't play with fuel system either

you get what you pay for in this field of mods, that's a 3.2 litre tank mounted under the bonnet with outlets and mounting space for twin pumps. not bad for around $1200 fitted.

Yeah I did my own, I used a cylindrical 2L tank and a Bosch 044 pump with speedflow fitting and check valve. I think it was about $600 in the end tank/pump/hose and other random bits. Gave me a project to undertake, otherwise I get bored at home if I dont have anything to do... Im doing the timing belt on my twin cam excel tonight actually.

Heres the link, sorry ive shifted the pics around in photobucket...
