Redhawk ....Time to lay this fairytale aside...... Donating Members 2,657 Member For: 22y 3m 2d Gender: Male Location: In the Ferry on the River Styx, not getting out just yet! Posted 15/08/03 09:10 AM Share Posted 15/08/03 09:10 AM whatever said: can it be removed? Apparently if you do remove it your car transforms overnight into a VY GenIII V8 that only plays tecno cr@p music, and if you wear a baseball cap when in the car it rotates automatically so the peak is round the back of yer head. :D So DON"T get the speed limiter switched off Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/5409-cruised-with-a-cbr-1000-bike/page/2/#findComment-43331 Share on other sites

But someone has to set the record straight - the limiter cuts in at 230k in the XR6T and XR8.Heven't personally verified it yet!Regardszeke Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/5409-cruised-with-a-cbr-1000-bike/page/2/#findComment-43421 Share on other sites

Posted 16/08/03 03:41 AM Author Share Posted 16/08/03 03:41 AM I did 230 and it cut out, and I verified the speed with a GPS. Its a fairly softcut, the engine just stops making power, then comes back on when you drop below 230. Oh yeah, the other frustrating thing is that the damn cruise control won't go on if you're doing over 200 so I sit at anywhere from 120 to 180 on the highway depending on conditions and location. Even up here without the speed limits, I very rarely do 230, it's just a bit too fast to relax and the fuel consuption gets to around 42 l / 100 at that speed! Guest ante Guests Posted 17/08/03 01:35 PM Share Posted 17/08/03 01:35 PM Thanks guys my EL XR cuts out at 179 or 189 cant remember its been a while since then. 230 is more than enough. A couple blokes I know had speed limiters by-passed then spent over 2500 to repair there auto boxes they where ELs though. I think the limiters are there for a reason. Ford_Power Member 798 Member For: 22y 2m 11d Posted 17/08/03 03:45 PM Share Posted 17/08/03 03:45 PM that's right, the autos of the EA-AU were limited to 180kph due to the auto transmission. The manuals had a higher speed limit.Ross Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/5409-cruised-with-a-cbr-1000-bike/page/2/#findComment-43850 Share on other sites

Only problem is the damn speedo which ONLY reads to 240 - after that you're guessing a bit LOL.But the ZL turbo is even worse with a digital speedo that reads only to 199 - and that gets left WAY behind real quick./disclaimer *of course I've NEVER done speeds like this on a public road* /end disclaimer Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/5409-cruised-with-a-cbr-1000-bike/page/2/#findComment-43883 Share on other sites
