Got Car From Interstate, Love The Car But The Owners Manual/service Bo

Got my XR6T, love the car, very clean interior but service books and owners manual were not in the glove box when it arrived, but were there and in order when I had the mechanical inspection, this is tricky, is the owner deliberately keeping them or simply just forgot, has not answered my calls.

I don't know whether to get heavy and say "the books are part of the car and I've paid for them so send them or else" or be nice at first ( you can catch more bees with honey than vinegar) and we are in a heat wave so nobody really feels like doing anything.

The owner was always slow to answer txt messages and was hard to catch on the phone, but was always honest, reliable and co-operative so I should give it time, more than likely the owner has simply forgotten, but I don't know why the service book and owner's manual were removed from the glovebox in the first place, in my mechanical report the service history is mentioned and all OK so there is nothing to hide by removing them.

In my other thread I mentioned the reason for me not being able to fly over myself and having to have the car brought over by truck instead just incase anyone says that it "serves me right" the mechanical report was very accurate and the car is everything the report said it is and I'm happy with it.....it has one of the cleanest well kept interiors I've seen and premium sound/Blueprint :B): There were others interested and I really wanted that car so it was freight it or let it go.

But does anyone know what happens if the previous owner has "lost" the books or says they never existed?

Does Ford have all the records on the service data base so they can be replaced or substantiated?

A car without books is like a child without a birth certificate.

I should have added it's a private sale (obviously) 03 BA xr6T with 160,000 km's on the clock, so not a very new car.

Good luck getting ford to fix up your log books, You can buy bew books from Ford but its kind of pointless as they wont have any service history. I would be trying my hardest to get the original books form the past owner.

I think the owner kept the books as a momento, she kept the bloody jack as well, and the spare was as flat as a turd and had a hole in it, now I'm glad I didn't have to drive it back. I got another jack from the wreckers and I have a spare wheel from my other car.

I got it for a good price and it was exactly what I was looking for, so I should not complain but I when I bought it I also bought the books that came with it, she's still not answering calls or txt messages, I might have to write a letter of demand, but I don't think I'll ever get them.

I am in Melbourne. PM the addy to me and if it's not to far I will pay her a visit for you.

Cheers ENVY-T, she may be away so I'll give her a chance to respond, she seemed OK when I spoke to her, the car only came with one set of keys and one keypad remote, how many do they usually have three? But it did have roadworthy cert.

Gotta love that avatar ENVY-T with the circle work

UPDATE: I phoned them, they'd been away, they are really nice people and have the service records/book there and are posting them over straight away, they'd forgot to put them back in the car and were very apologetic. Thanks heaps for your replies everyone, drive safe. Bluesmuso
